Supercob's "brother" is coming home from horspital tomorrow after the world's most expensive asthma diagnosis! We thought it was, vets adamant it couldn't be. Referred to leahurst for the diagnosis to come back asthma.
Otherwise, hacking hopefully chance of a canter - hes rather felt the cold since last weekend ??

Lesson tomorrow, I may ask to sneak in a little jump. Technically our yard isn’t allowing jumping yet but I know someone did in a lesson last week and I am itching to jump her - haven’t left the floor with her since I tried her in January!
Then hacking Saturday, and I’ll run through my dressage tests on Sunday, I’ve entered in the Prelim and Novice. Still a month away but I always forget the tests so I’ll start early.
Roxylola and shortstuff, hope the recovery for sick ponies goes smoothly and they’re on the mend soon.

I am going to a show jumping comp! Very excited, first for the year.

Henry came back into work, had 2 rides and yesterday had an incident with a fence and a tree branch so off to the vet with him today and he is once again off work. So frustrating but obviously not the end of the world.
Oh
Lnow is he ok ?

I have the weekend off work because I (had too much leave) am dressage pencilling for our local horse trials. Will be doing the 2* class so should be some great horses and riding to watch.

Will no doubt get out schooling and hacking in the warm Autumn sunshine as well.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and the sick note horses heal up quickly!

I'm course jumping with the ginger this afternoon- aim is to warm up separately and then 'go into the ring' to replicate where it falls apart at shows. Same course as we jumped last week so no excuses, I'm hoping she will be professional and get on with her job without any drama.
I am also going to aim to get back on the 4yr olds this weekend- they will both do an in-hand hack and some groundwork in the arena and then have a little sit on.

I'm planning on schooling/jumping this eve, trying to get my confidence back up before everything starts up again so aiming to jump once a week (whilst still under the 'three yard visits a week' restrictions....) might try and squeeze a hack in at the weekend but that's dependent on if any other liveries wanted to ride (can have more than three if there's space, it's confusing!)

EEEk SS, that;s not good.Hope all the sicknotes recover well.
LP I could never remember dressage tests till I started turning them into poems or songs!
AE & Mule good luck
Chippers, I'm sure your confidence will cme back really quickly once you are jumping consistently again. I got to about 70cm with Tobes by October but then had a long gap and had tp start at crosspoles again. But ut does not take long if you keep at it.

Dolly and Tobes are hacking today, using the water treadmill/Vita floor tomorrow and having a jumping lesson on Sunday. Busy ponies!

Sorry to read about sick ponies, I hope they are ok.

Did my first teeny jumps with finnegan last weekend to get going again. Then my back went -sigh- so won’t ride until the weekend when hopefully it’s better again. Am not going to my shiatsu which seems to keep me going ok so looking forward to that being available again. If not I might need to find a local physio that’s open.

Good idea about weekly jumping I might try to do that. Otherwise hacking this weekend and enjoying the sunshine and lighter evenings!

Started to book things too for after March 29. Yay.

Hoping to continue developing some base fitness for my young mare this week. We have done loads of walk work and most of our work will continue to be slow hill work; we are up to about 10-12 miles now. I have started including more trot up the hills and some 'fun' canter bits to help her open up and have some fun!! :) :) The walk work is hard for me tbh and probably Alw in fact but I know that it will pay dividends. Up till now I haven't felt like including much schooling as such though we have been doing what is needed laterally for gates, rein back etc; in a slightly rough and ready fashion but hey ho!! I have, however, been eyeing up our drying paddock and was hoping to roll it so as to provide a basic surface for a tiny bit of schooling. It may not be ready this weekend sadly but I can feel it won't be long. :) I am going to think of some good hacking-schooling exercises for Alw for this weekend now and plan to do a 5 mile hill workout today with a bit more trot work and then 12 miles of hills and tracks with trot and canter over the weekend. Her feet are getting rather worn so I am also playing a bit of a waiting game to find out if I do need to shoe (I would so rather not and Alw has lovely feet which farrier doesn't think will need shoes) or just do what I can to avoid any additional abrasion. That means more work off road - yippeee!! :) :) I literally can't wait to be able to take her somewhere with a good surface for some flatwork and a lesson; fingers crossed that won't be too long :) :)

Sorry that so many of us seem to have horses off work with injuries, hopefully all are on the mend. We've dried up a lot here but still no turnout for Rose, just more hand walking. There's barely a hint of swelling now and no heat so I hope she gets the sign off to start work and have turnout on Thursday. Fingers crossed! In the meantime she's letting me know that she's fed up and we've had to have "words"!
Have some fun this weekend and make the most of it being dry sadly we are due to have more rain next week.

Those with confidence issues jumping honestly little and often is what got me through my crisis. I'd even just put one small cross pole up in the middle of the arena, flat school around it and then every now and then just pop over it. If we went over it nicely then I didn't do it again - always end on a high note! I also incorporated it into my flat lessons so it didn't really feel like jumping, more like raised poles!

Also what my instructor is great at is building exercises that stretch us technically but without raising the height of the fences. So unknowingly I was getting more confident because we were doing skinnies, dog legs, grids etc but all at 50cm max. Then she popped up one fence on it's own to 85cm and I jumped it without even being too nervous.

Can you tell I miss it :( but on the plus side we've got the all clear to have lessons at the yard again so I've booked Mum in for 2 flat lessons and her first jump lesson! I'm so excited, Mum is naturally a far better rider than me, she is just rusty and never really learnt how to ride technically, she just bombed around on her connie hacking!

Everyone that is having lessons/riding etc make sure you post videos so I can live vicariously through you please.

Fingers crossed for the off-work ponies - that sounds pretty scary SS and AE!

We had a dressage lesson on Wednesday, with lots of work on suppleness and straightness through bend and counter-bend, which really helped to get Danny's neck out as well. Trainer is back next Wednesday - a few others at the yard have started having lessons with her (all teenagers, I feel very old!) which makes the journey worthwhile. The teens all have events coming up over Easter weekend and are keen to get some practice in, which benefits me too ;)

So this weekend we'll do our usual Friday hack, then do our homework on Saturday and probably hack again Sunday. I need to get Danny a bit fitter, although I suspect his energy levels will improve once the grass is through so maybe not too fit ;)

It's also Chilli's 4th birthday on Sunday. I might get him in and have a play with some obstacles and de-spooking stuff in the school to celebrate, having been inspired by some of the videos on the 3/4 year old thread!

I did do a Pivo video last weekend but my main takeaway was that I need to lose the lockdown belly, so I'm not sharing :p:D

I am hoping to take my 2 year old daughter hacking on her 4 year old section A tomorrow in the woods along the road, we have to box up as we have no hacking near the yard without road work. Her dad will probably hack his horse along next to her. I will probably fit in some schooling or canter work in the jumping paddock for getting her fitter.
Sunday, we are taking OH horse over to the saddle fitters to get his saddle checked AGAIN, and taking the section A to have a wee lesson with a young rider that helped back him.

My main takeaway from your post is ooh what takeaway shall I have tonight so no judgement on lockdown belly from here...

My lockdown belly has it's own heart, brain and organs and there's only one way it's coming out and I've heard its akin to doing the splits on a crate of dynamite

Lol - who can resist a lockdown takeaway! We're having Thai tomorrow if that helps...

At least your lockdown belly will bring you years of joy and look after you in your dotage ?. I hope the pregnancy is going smoothly!

That does help, I love Thai.

And thank you! Very smoothly considering we're in the middle of a global pandemic!

I really hope so, i'm still determined to do Shelford BE80 one day but it seems like every year it slips away from me!!
