It's time

So sad for you :( however you know you are doing the right thing for his welfare which is of course paramount.

Big deep breaths xx

It's really hard to pre book rather than respond to urgent circumstances, very very brave decision. Lucky horse to have an owner who puts him first - to end or avoid long term suffering is the greatest gift we can give. Be nice to yourself and just remember why you are doing it. He will appreciate your generosity - after all, to them it is just putting out the lights.

JillA has put her finger right on it. Arranging for a date in the future to pts your beloved horse is so very, very hard. If your horse is taken ill and suffering, somehow it seems kinder to ask the vet to pts at that time, but to prearrange a date seems so brutal,

I have to agree with you both.

It feels like I am murdering my best friend :(.

:( He'll be missed and very fondly remembered on here.

It comes to us all, you're just making sure he has a peaceful way out at the end.

I am so sorry. You are making a very difficult and brave decision and are clearly a very caring owner. I hope the sun is shining on Tuesday x

I've made the hard decision to have Obi PTS on Tuesday :(.

I've been fighting with the decision for a while and I hoped we would have the summer together, but I looked into his eyes on Friday night and just knew it was time.
I promised him I would never let him suffer and we're only going to go one way from here.
I booked the Vet yesterday.

He's hopped up on Danilon, oats, apples, ginger biscuits, mints and cabbage at the moment and I've borrowed a bucket of the hated mollichop to feed him on Monday night :o

I am so very sorry xx

I have to agree with you both.

It feels like I am murdering my best friend :(.

I completely understand how you feel, and I think it's natural to feel guilt about it, but it really is a gift to be able to release them from pain, suffering and slow deterioration. (I know you know that.)

I just wish we could do the same for our loved ones.

So sorry to hear that. I hope Tuesday goes as well as it can.

We had our dog PTS on Friday after she went down hill rapidly through the week. I have to say that devestated as we are we are taking great comfort in the fact that it was definitely the right decision and she is no longer in pain.

Well done for doing the right thing by your horse.

Sending you best wishes , and I hope you have got someone to look after you when you have looked after Oberon.

I'm very sorry to read this :(

One of my very dearly loved mares died this week and a friend said a beautiful thing to me; that her old horse would meet my mare at the Rainbow bridge and show her the way. I hope my mare will meet your boy there and show him the way too. xx
