its too hot...

Just had a lovely barney with someone on fb who believes people who ride their horses in hot weather should show more consideration ;) best retire ours for the summer then ......!

It's NOT hot enough!!! 30 degrees - bring it on!! I hate cold weather and dark evenings if we could have this all year round I would be very happy!

31 degrees in the shade here! It's taken me 21 years to get used to the heat and I doubt if I could put up with British weather again. The horses don't seem to mind either, they go out at 5.30 and are in at 10.30 when they sleep till 4pm. Riding is no problem, you do it early or late and give them a good hose down after :)

Glorious hot sunny heat...marvellous...love it. We are in France in a week to watch the cycling and it is currently 30 degrees there! I will be quite happy sitting supping cider in that thank you very much.

My horses are on a wine farm just outside Cape Town, South Africa. It regularly gets to 40 degrees Celsius. We have a grey Arab, a mad chestnut Thoroughbred, an American Saddler and four Clydesdales.
They have shady areas in their fields, access to a large dam and a shelter- they cope absolutely brilliantly. The Arab, Saddler and Thb are ridden everyday and are exceptionally fit. We avoid hard, fast work between 10am and 4pm but otherwise they are worked to exactly the same level as the horses I worked with in Denmark. If it gets above 40, they are hosed and brought in.

I have to say, I think I notice the heat far more than mad Thb ever will!

It can never be too hot Too humid yes but never too hot
I loved the Nevada Desert it was 50 degrees C but it was bone dry could happily live there but I have very fair skin so would fry 28 degrees today and clear not fuggy air Beautiful
Shed my fleece for the first time today since last summer

*Does a small happy dance*

Lovely to see the summer, missed it the last few years! Pain for the horses though, bloody flies, but least keeps them moving or snoozing - less grass time!
Still, we ain't complaining about the mud- yet!

I'm off on holiday tomorrow... FAB beach weather and so so looking forward to it. Just hope that horse sharer can catch pony to apply the factor 50 to her snozzle!!
ALWAYS something to worry about!!

It is lovely, got up early to ride then had a little siesta post lunch, I am now refreshed and enjoying a glass of wine. Life is so much more straightforward without all the hats and coats and rugs etc of our usually wetter climate. It can stay like this until October but those who disagree take heart the school holidays are looming which always means rain !! Xx

It's flipping gorgeous!! Have managed to get 4 loads of washing done and it's the first time in 3 weeks that I'm glad I'm not at work - hope it lasts!!

Too hot!! sounds a bit chilly to me.... lol

you should try living here in July and August, its been 37'c today, and will get in the 40'c soon.. :D (last year it reached 62'c in the sun one day.. thats 140'f more or less..and it was too hot)..

I better pack my thermals when I come over in September.... ;-)

Ahhh, if only summer temperatures overed around 25-30! :p that's spring weather!

You don't know hot until you've been in a week of 45 Celsius, with a highest temperature day of 48 degrees and a howling north wind! And then you get the smell of smoke in the air...:(

Still, I'm having a sook about riding today, it's going to be windy and rainy and... 11 degrees! :p :o I suspect I don't really know cold!

Let's try to enjoy it, it doesn't last for long and we will be back to rain and freezing cold before you know it, I'd rather this weather any day!

48 is far far too hot  but why was there smell of smoke???

I'm working till 3 today. And doing a 14 hour shift tomorrow. I'm gona to DIE!

Bad thing about working in a care home....... The residents have this sixth sence of when a window has been opened or cracked a little and shuts it! :/ I will be dead on the floor tomow

Probably the same as here.... forest fires :-/ flipping scary when one starts (or is deliberately started) close to you, and the place get so dry, everywhere goes up like a tinder box.. last year was the worst Ive even known for them, One started 5km from me, was only small and took 6-7 hours, 7 fire engines and 3 water dropping helicopter/plane to put it out.. I could not go to bed till I knew it was out..

Yes i agree!!

When its this warm i stay indoors with the curtains closed and the door open, we live in a chalet and it really traps the heat and with it streaming through the windows it gets mega hot especially at night!! its 24 degrees in the bedroom! not sure how hot it is outside but its very warm! just been to see to the neds, lots of extra water for them. They don't seem to bothered but theres a lovely big shady oak if they need it. I did notice loads of horse flies though :(

I have SLE Lupus and i'm allergic to the sun!! 10 mins and I come out in blisters, which is never an attractive look! 5 am this morning, horses were in, ridden and by 7.30 we had built a new chicken house. Husband got up and helped which I thought was lovely of him til I realised the Lions were playing and he wanted to be finished. Weather is lovely but give me a crisp bright winters morning anytime.

Well i for one love it, up early for riding or late. Then to chill out for the day, only downside are the flies but horses have loads of water and a nice breeze in there field so don't seem too bothered.
Currently 24 in staffordshire, only 4 degrees colder than when i was in Spain 2 weeks ago!

I'm normally a grump with the heat, but after the last couple of years and the vile weather we have had, I'm almost enjoying it!
It's currently showing as 27 deg in Swadlincote (nearest town) and that'l do me, any hotter and I'm going to have to be doing my yards very very early and plastering on the factor 50 - I burn like bacon!

The hay being cut round here looks like it will be decent though!!

Mel x

I am loving it!!!! got the cob swathed in his fly rug, fly mask with extra long nose so his nozzle doesn't burn and all is well in my world. :D

Downside is the kamaze flies and the horse flies the size of a Boeing 747's

Lovely here today but going up to 30 tomorrow and Mini is eventing two ponies...her young mare is early on but she has another ride in the 90cm from 1.30 to 3pm.....anyone want a melted Mini tomorrow evening?!
