Caught the name of the horse who played Black Beauty and it was a american quarter horse called Docs Keepin Time who was a 5th generation offspring of War Admiral. Interesting

I cried all the way through but was determined to make it to the end! there are scenes in that which wouldn't look out of place in today's society. Sad but true.

They chose much more finely built horses and then used loads of light and make-up to make them look like bonebags. I remember reading an article about it when the film first came out.

My first horse, now almost 33 yo came from Foxhill Stables, nr Reading he has been in lots of films. Once the biggest film yard in the country, I was told they could make horses up to look awful, all down to the make up artist.
