So I was up the yard earlier and was told that my boy has lost a lot of weight. I was shocked as I don't feel he has, his workload and diet hasn't changed in the last few months and if I'm honest I'm pretty happy with him. Just to add he is a 7yr old Welsh D.

So this was him nearly 2 months ago

Please tell me I'm not going mad! And just to ignore the comment x

It is difficult to compare but he does look as if he has toned up and gained more muscle, I cannot see how anyone could say he looks skinny, he is rather nice they are probably jealous.
 
Looks great to me but too many sec D owners have their horses much too fat with huge crests that in comparison he probably looks quite light. He'll thank you for it when he's still fit and healthy when he's older!

Lovely to see a horse who is a sensible weight. People on the whole are idiots about weight! When mine was 75kgs overweight people told me he was fine. He was NOT! Even now after months of dieting he could still lose weight and is definitely heavier than he would be, other people cant see it and I just dont get it! I get fed up of ridiculous comments like "hes a cob they are chunky" Yes, yes they are, but they dont need to be fat!
 
I think he looks fine, but if you do have concerns that you may miss weight loss or gain, then why not weigh tape him once a week/month, that way you may not know his actual weight but you will be able to spot any fluctuations :)
 
I have the same problem.

I have an underweight highland....
To me he is an ideal weight!! To others- especially showing sort.. He is grossly underweight.

I'd rather see a slightly leaner looking laminitis prone type than the super overweight wobbling crest type!
Looks gorgeous to me nice to see a healthy welshy:)
 
I'm with everyone else (and I KNOW fat horses - most of my IDs are overweight!) He looks fitter behind in the 2nd pics - and if you'd had him on a weighbridge for both pics he would probably be heavier now - a pound of muscle occupies less space than a pound of fat. Smile sweetly and ignore (unless they're persistent - then FOD!
