He is not in " show condition" ie, not hideously overweight. Unfortunately it's what people are used to seeing & has become normal
Im regularly told my cob is underweight, but my vet has regularly commented how nice it is to see a fit, not fat cob.

Wish my Sec D looked like that! We have been battling her weight all spring/summer, I swear she gets fat on fresh air (like her owner :( )

The vet came out in March this year for jabs. I thought my two were on the skinny side of lean but he was delighted with them. Kept saying that 'this is what a horse should look like coming out of winter', and warned me not to let them gain weight quickly. I should add that neither of them were in work.
Ignore the weight police on your yard!
 
Rule of thumb for healthy weight: You should be able to feel the ribs just under the skin, but not see them. Also, try to feel the sides above the top of the tail, there should be a little padding, but it should not be wobbly or tight. Your horse does not lot too skinny to me...
 
Looks fit, healthy and a good NORMAL weight - keep up the good work!! Ignore the people making comments, fat horses are not healthy horses, enjoy your cob.

I thought there was a bit more crest and a bit more belly in the second photo, but still perfect.

"Mac" Johnson, retired RVC lecturer, told me that the majority of health problems in horses was caused by being over weight. At least, I think that's what he said. I wish I'd paid more attention as he is a font of wisdom, but he was removing a retained cleansing at the time and I was hanging onto the head of a mare that likes to go up, so my thoughts were elsewhere. :(

Better too lean (which this pony is not) than obese.
 
Unless it is a serious condition I don't understand why people feel the need to comment on a horses weight. I was told my horse looks overweight recently. He was stuck in his box on recovery and only just started work again. If you took off the slack tummy then he was just normal. A week in, tummy is tightening and I was complemented on him losing weight. Actually, he has just had his hard feed increased. He also drops weight incredibly quickly so I am very aware of how much he is carrying.
