I had a lesson last night and my instructor had been jumping so there were loads of jumps out in the menage, all with wings and fillers etc. As i was waiting for her I led Hovis round to look at them all in case they frightened him (he's not really seen wings and things before). Cue my 4.5 year old Cylesdale sticking his head into one of the barrels being used to make a jump look more daunting then lifting his head with the barrel wedged over his ears. No panicking, no fear just looking a bit "special".
This morning the 15.3 HH beastie decided that rather than wait for me to do his rug up and open the door for him he'd follow his mate out of the stable by ducking under the stable chain. Except he's too big to get under it so got wedged halfway. Utterly calmly just stood there with a "whoops" expression on his face.
I finally let him out into the field with his friends. Turned to put his headcollar in the container by the fence and realised he's stood by the water trough looking confused. I realised it must be frozen so walked over to sort it out. I got a stick out and broke the top of the ice - next thing he's stuck a foot into the trough and is "helping" me break the ice. He then glances down in surprise at his foot as its now dripping wet through and undoubtedly freezing cold.
Is it me or have i managed to pick the dumbest beastie on the planet as my trusted steed?
