I've decided on the name of Lacey as her confidence is so fragile just now but here she is again!
This morning, it took me an whole hour to get her out of her stable! She just did not have a clue as to going down a step, she was genuinely frightened and took forever to get her to stand on the brink even. I tried everything except bribery, I don't do bribery for anything, rewards yes, bribery no! Once she was out I led her around our scary yard and down the common and she was interested in everything but kept firmly by my shoulder at first but got a bit braver as we came back; went straight back into her box and back out again with no bother at all so hopefully that was time well worth spent. I feel so sorry for her, it must be a hell of a shock to her system leaving family and home not to add with new people, travelling for 2 + hours and being somewhere completely new; it's a lot to take in for her, I don't think we ever realise just how much it knocks their confidence sometimes. Anyway, no lunging, her feet are such a mess she'd be breaking them up worse than ever' you can just see her plates of meat in the walking video!
No hysterics when I turned her out and now she is still talking to them over the gate which could go on for a while I think.

Shes lovely. Her feet are truly impressive aren't they! I bought a pony earlier this year that had never had the farrier and hers were split like an ostriches, are Lacey's just big and flat?
She moves well and b*gger the showing, she'll make a cracking hunter!
Thanks for the link on your last thread about the mane thing, I will get one, it looks great.
 
Her feet won't be a bad shape at all once they've been done but there's almost 2 inches to come off them and they are flared and split like jiggery; good job she has good quality horn to begin with but it'll be a few months before the splits grow out.
I'm hoping I can find someone who fancies the challenge of hunting once we get her going safely and sanely!
Glad the link helped, you might find one in an old fashioned pet shop or they might get one in for you.
 
Poor sweetheart. I have missed history of this horse but gather she is new and a bit nervous settling in. I have one that took nearly a year to recover from leaving her stud and friends.

It left me thinking that for some horses the separation is like bereavement.

Love the name.
 
She's lovely, what a cracking looking mare! She'd do really well as a small hunter I reckon

BTW I love the nosy parkers up at the gate oggling the new girl!!
