I've gone and booked myself a lesson on a dressage schoolmaster!! I have always wanted to do this and enquired after a friend recommended someone local.

So I'm going in the morning!!! 9 am!! And I don't have any summer weight jods/breeches!! Good job it's in the morning.

It's literally minutes from me (i didnt know they existed) and they do share their schoolmasters (for a price) so if I get on really well I may (may!!) consider it. Just don't tell the oh how much it is lol!!!
 
Now THAT sounds like fun :) good luck and I'll look forwards to reading about it in your update. I've only ridden a proper dressage trained horse once. He sussed me out in the first few seconds and it took me most of the lesson getting him to go properly. Then just before the end he must have felt sorry for me as he suddenly started to go beautifully. What a treat :)
 
I don't 'do' dressage but one of the most exhilerating experiences I've had was about 20 years ago being offered the ride on a PSG horse owned by a rather well known rider. It was so amazing to be able to put into practice all the aids I'd read about. Quite a fantastic experience and if I could afford to spend £70,000 on one similar horse then I may even have considered taking up dressage! You will have a blast I'm sure! :)
 
I'm so excited. I have had a lesson on a schoolmaster once. I was 11 and on holiday in Scotland and mum thought I was going for hours hack (non horsey). I rode a gp old boy and wore my ski jacket throughout. I'd only ever ridden at a slightly crappy riding school and couldn't get him to turn across the arena. Turn right!!! Don't be daft!!! If you simply pull the right rein I'll flex right and scrape you're left leg down the fence as I fall out!! Learnt more in 60 mins than I ever had before and I melted cos of the ski jacket but was so scared if the instructor I didn't dare ask to stop to take it off lol!!

I'm expecting similar tomorrow lol!! Not sure I'll get photos as going on my own.
