just take what the judge says with a pinch of salt!!! i have entered these for ring practice for novice ponies, one judge placed my immaculate hogged cob below a dirty pony with no noseband on it's bridle, due to the fact trhat the other one being plaited (dirty great golfballs!) and my properly turned out to breed standard m&m has been placed below a pony wearing a purple fluffy saddlecloth, whose rider had not ironed her shirt and had no gloves......it really is a lottery with some of these dotty old judges, just think of it as schooling!!

totaly agree with lilym, ive taken my beautifuly turned out connemara (who i would have very happily put into a county show ring in that turnout) into a local T&T class and been placed below something with mud up its back legs (which concidering there was no mud in site and it hasnt rained in over 2 weeks was quite a feat), huge green saddle cloth, muddy brushing boots and golf ball plaits.

I was supposed to do 2 more classes that day (M&M and veteran) i watched the next class (pony 12.2hh and under) decided that the judge didnt know one end of a horse from the other and went home.

It sounds as if it could be a bit of a lottery then? I am not really bothered about doing well because I am really only doing it for the experience of riding in the ring which is something that I have hitherto been too scared to attempt. Having said that though I will still do my best and will no doubt be a bit miffed if some scruffy herbert beats me

You may find that it is judged individually, at my local summer show it is..... although there is a ring set aside for it, its only big enough for one horse at a time, and you just present yourself within a set time period.... maybe 9-12pm???

Good luck anyway
