This is the first winter I have 2 four year olds. I dont think it is fair on their sanity that they are just stuck in the school all winter and as such I have given in and plan to advertise for someone to hack them out during the week.

Do you think this ad is fair?

Reliable person required to hack out three times a week (weekdays only). No payment required but reliablilty a must. Hacking only (off road, fantastic hacking on offer) aboard 4 year old ex racer and 4 year old tb x. Both safe (dont spook/rear/buck/bolt) but are young and learning and as such 100% cannot be guarenteed so no novices please.
Kept at owners own, family run, sociable friendly yard. No mucking out etc, just grooming and riding.

More than fair! I'd snap your arm off, personally

I don't understand the part about payment, do you mean you don't want to pay someone to exercise your horses, or that they don't have to pay you ?

When I had a problem one winter, I had to pay a lady to exercise my horse. That way I got a professional rather than a happy hacker. Obviously it cost more, but she was professional and turned up on time, every day regardless of the weather.

As in, no payment required if it was like a share agreement.

I would pay a pro, but I would rather have my lessons at the weekend, and even though I dont pay livery becasue I run my own (diy) yard etc, I do pay £80 per week in instruction!

I purely want a happy hacker that will keep them fit but not do anything with them...

Fair enough, but I think you need to make the wording a little clearer so that a potential applicant would understand the terms of the deal.

I would ask around first - purely because you might have a bit of a problem with reliability as there is no "come back" on your sharer to ensure they turn up!

A lady at my yard wanted sharers for her older horse. He is a proper all rounder - not tricky but not a"starter" horse so when people rang, the opening stipulation was that if they were really interested and sounded capable, they had to have a lesson on said horse with her instructor. This meant she ended up with 2 really nice (and very capable) people.

I have previously found someone who fitted your descrpiption (ex event rider just wanting a decent hack - complete god send helping me keep 2 horses fit) - however, never been able to replicate that!
