when he arrived he had rubbed a lot of his dock and a big portion of his mane off, i was hoping to just leave it and wait for it to grow back on its own so we can go looking a bit better turned out (just to winter dressage so its not to urgent) but it has been a slow process 😬.I've had a couple recommendations for the Neighked horse regrowth stuff but was unsure if it was worth the money and if it worked effectively? if not are there any other oils/sprays/supplements that work any better, or should i just leave it to grow back on its own?
thanks for the help 😁

Well, I had to google a Murgese - that's a new one to me :) Looks nice!

I've not used the Neighkid regrowth, but I have used Shapley's M-T-G. Not sure if it sped up the re-growth or not, but it was certainly good quality growth and his skin was in lovely condition where I usd it - no scurf etc.

Nice to see an unusual breed here.

Try Anicura products. I have an itchy horse due to very thick mane so wash it weekly with Dermoline shampoo and then apply Anicura gel. He no longer rubs.

Your horse may have sweet itch?

I've had to treat mine with deosect this year as they were rubbing their tails. The first thing is to find out if there's a reason why he's rubbing as it wont regrow until this is addressed.

It's an unusual breed, is he one of a group of 4 who came over from Italy a couple of years ago?

Must be unless he's a stallion. Last time I looked there were only 4 geldings, one stallion, and one mare with foal in UK. The four geldings just turned 6 yrs. The importers backed then sold on..

I thought you were hoping to go show jumping in your burgundy jacket?

I used to follow their progress as Rob Leese who helped import them and train them also helped me with my horses around the time they were imported. He talked about going on the trip to Italy to see if they were suitable. I'd never heard of the breed before he mentioned it.

i'm not 100% sure to be honest, but i know he was brought over as two year old by his previous owner and it now 5 (he is a gelding). they didn't back him, but sent him on sales livery to be backed and trained up, which is where we got him from just recently. we have been in contact with his old owners and they seem like lovely people- i may have to ask now but i don't think so since hes a year younger- hope that helps though i know its quite vague 😁

I follow The Pixel Nomad on FB, a female photographer who travels Europe photographing rare breeds of horses and ponies so I had heard of them. She's well worth a look, her photo's are superb and she organises trips for groups of like minded people.

I know you're not happy with his mane yet but even so I'd love to see pictures of him.

I tried Regrow as my dressage horse rubbed his tail quite badly earlier in the summer. I'm not sure it made any difference! The main thing for me was stopping the itchiness through regular washing with medicated shampoo and a sweet-itch lotion. It's grown back nicely now.

I wouldn't worry if it's still a bit of a mess, the judge is unlikely to even notice. Good luck!
