I'm looking for Classical based tuition and hacking, currently horseless, but as soon as I find my place and the right kind of yard, I will be on the lookout for my next horse as the loss of my mare, Cassie, really put a hole in my heart. Can anyone recommend somewhere that offers classical based tuition?
Thanks.x

Ashley Ward would be likely to be your best bet for a more classical instructor. Though as far as I know she only does lessons on clients horses. Welcome to the area though! You’re not a million miles away from me and you’re certainly in the right place for some great hacking!!

Thanks for your reply, I'll look them up! I'm just trying to be in the right spot and the best place to keep a horse and make the most of it, since I dont drive, i will need to live as close as possible to the yard, I just need to get it right. Google isn't as good as word of mouth for recommendations and local knowledge and although I really like Longfield, I think they only offer full livery and the joy of owning a horse for me, is doing the work. I'm currently recovering from a neurological disorder so I have lots of free time to focus on the new horse.
Where's your great hacking? That's high on my list of priorities, as well as daily turnout all year round

I keep mine in cragg vale which has loads of great bridleways. Mankinholes is a small village near Tod which has great hacking. You can get on the pennine bridleway there and go for miles.

Ashley is based there and has a small livery yard. There is shaw farm but they are just full livery, that has excellent hacking but expensive. Esther the owner also owns a small DIY yard at her house. You do have to hack down a main road to get to pennine bridleway though from there, it’s just down the lane from long field. There is also a track livery called 3 ravens opposite longfield. All of these are on Facebook, it’s worth joining Halifax equestrian Facebook group as lots of livery yards advertise there.

There are some private yards in the area too if you fancied some door knocking! I do remember seeing an advert which was offering 24/7 turnout all year round at their private yard which is very rare for the area!
