We bought a tatty but structurally sound old Bahill earlier in the year which was supposed to take us out to lots of new and exciting places this year. We managed two fun rides and then my mum fell ill and after a short, intense illness, died and I had to clear the flat she had rented for 40 years of all her memories and love! And that was 150 miles away from home too. So pony became a field ornament for a couple of months and got fat and since then I've kind of lost my riding mojo. But I know it will come back so I'm not fretting.

Anyhoo..... in preparation for NEXT season, last Sunday I decided it was time to give the old girl a bit of a makeover. Her black roof was peeling badly so I got to work with sandpaper and then she got two coats all over with metal paint....

I chose a kind of vintage colour scheme (a sort of vanilla ice-cream colour and a minty blue/green) because I felt it was in keeping with her age - and I'm glad I did now as I think she looks lovely. My husband is refusing to let me add any bunting as a final flourish!! ;)

Although I'm sick of the sight of paint and white spirit, I'm really glad I made the effort......

Well done, that's a lot of work. It looks great and I hope you and your horse get to go to lots of exciting events in it.

So sorry for the difficult time that you've gone through, and that your Mother passed away.

The trailer looks marvellous!! You're gonna stand out from the crowd (in a nice way), and find it easer once parked at the shows :p

I love it! Very vintage. We used to have one of these when I was younger. Ours was just plain bottle green though. Wish we'd done this with it now!

Sorry to hear about your Mum :(

:D A job very well done. I love the colour, different but not garish :)

I do like to see trailers that are not just the regulation IW colours, if, God forbid, it ever went walkabouts, it is so much easier for people to remember seeing a pale green trailer passing them than a generic blue or maroon one which are just so much 'white noise' to the eye.

A friend of mine had her maroon IW swiped and no-one could remember seeing it at all, yet if they were on the road they must have :(

Thank you for all your lovely comments :) Yes, Enfys..... I am in two minds, an eternal dilemma. If I'd left her old and tatty she may have been overlooked by a potential thief, because even before she was still quite distinctively coloured. But by jazzing her up it possibly makes her MORE attractive, but also more noticeable at the same time. Just got to hope that my security measures still work!!!
