I had people come and see Bertie last week, it was for their 18 yr old son. He couldn't come last week as he was working, but the parents fell in love with him.
So today they came back with the son and he adores him. They couldn't believe what a well behaved colt he is. They gave me a deposit and are going away on holiday for a month next week so I will keep hold of him till they come home.
They are going to get their vet out in the next couple of weeks to geld him too

As soon as they left I started crying

I just keep thinking how excited I was when I agreed to buy him when he was just 2 weeks old, I can't believe Ive done it, but I know I had to.
I gave him his 1st ever bath today and he was such a little angel

He looks gloriously shiny Well done for selling him, worrd of warning, if there's any way he'd be a stallion prospect, don't let them geld him until they've paid in full

Hugs from me.

He's a lovely boy and I'm sure he'll have a very happy home. You've obviously done a great job with him, you should be very proud. I expect you'll be keeping in touch, so that will help ease the pain of selling him.

It's always sad when horses move out of our lives, but providing you know in your heart that they are going to the best possible home, it makes it all so much better. The horse will be happy I'm sure, and you have to try to be happy for him, no matter how sad you feel inside.

Agree with others and would want payment in full prior to gelding, otherwise if there are any complications, it could get messy.

Good advice from everyone. Take it.
My heart goes out to you. Be brave and confident in the knowledge you are doing the right thing for your boy... Hugs to you.

Thanks guys, Im feeling a bit better now... It had to sink in a bit.
Poor 28Jen28 had me on the phone after they left!!
Luckily for her my battery cut out!
Im a bit peed off with OH cos he just moaned at me for dropping the price by £100, he didnt even give me a hug

Dont want to nit pick but...whats with his feet

Please forgive me if Im going doolally.

is there any need for that? NO

Im sorry but, yes there is! He is lovely and shiny after his bath but why are his feet in such a condition? I think its called -'lack of blacksmith'. there may be a good reason behind it but Im not going to say how sweet and shiny he is and pass by such a glaring fault. I dont do the 'oohh how cute he is and how perfect you are'-if there is something to be said it needs saying. Feet( for horses) are fundamental and blacksmiths are all over the place. was there any need for you to make a noise? NO: so back off and mind your own...M

Having had to sell my pony a short time ago, I know how hard this is for you. I hope that he has a fabulous future ahead.

(Sorry, have to agree his feet could do with a farrier, but that can be easily sorted)

(Agree re the comments on gelding, get paid in full first)

is there any need to be nasty on a post where someone is upset about selling there horse. no there isn't. sophie221 has posted many pictures of him and no one has remarks before about his feet. so why do it now when she is upset that he is going.

Right he had his feet done about 6 weeks ago, you can nit pick all you bloody want! I know I look after him and do the best for all my horses.
Thanks for the un necessary advice!!!
I've learnt not to listen to people like YOU, my farrier is good enough thank you!!!!!

Thanks to everyone else though.

This isn't helping my headache, so please dont start a bloody debate on my colts feet!

This is the first photo Ive seen of her horse.Had I seen others and his feet were in the same state then, yes, I would have commented. There is no reason whatsoever for a 2 year old to have such overgrown and down at the heels feet.Im sorry that shes upset at having sold him but that doesnt mean that the truth should be avoided. Lets get out priorities right. M.

He isn't 2 he's 1.

You might not of meant any offence but I really didnt need this!!!
He is a very well loved boy, Im absolutely gutted that Im selling him, it was never in my plans to EVER sell him but things change unfortunately.

I wasnt being nasty in my original reply but boy-you are a bit touchy! If you put up a photo you will receive praise and criticism.
I would either enter your boy in the 'G B of R' for his exceptional growth in 6 weeks or sack your blacksmith!

Mairi. :
PS, I have a headache too, you have my sympathy

.

No cos I would have had him cut as soon as he gets coltish, it would have been nice to keep him entire but I cant be dealing with the hassle of a fruity male with his brains in his boll0cks!!

I didn't put the photos on for people to comment on how shiny he is, it was pictures of him having his 1st bath!

I think I have a right to be touchy with snidy comments from nit pickers!!!
mad.gif

I know, its going to feel really weird knowing that he's not mine anymore, they thought it would be best to have him gelded at home, as it will be stressful enough for him moving, without having a bad experience when he gets there!
Even before I had him at weaning he was only kept in the next field to mine.

Bless him, he's going to a nice home which is most important to me.

I don't think Mairi was being snide

I think it would've been irresponsible of her NOT to say anything if it concerned her...
Would you not say anything if you saw incorrectly or ill-fitting tack/ragwort in a field/ someone riding without a hat (don't know how strongly you feel about the last one
wink.gif
) in a photo posted on HHO?
I think you're feeling a bit sensitive and down because you've sold your boy.

Thanks PF, I know what you mean but I dont think she had any right to make that comment on his feet from a photo, it isnt a concrete or tarmac yard its that crushed stuff if you know what I mean. If I saw a photo like this one I wouldn't think anything of his feet.
Surely you can see how well looked after he is.
Especially as Im really gutted, fair enough if it was a photo asking ''what do you think'' but it wasn't.
