I've turned my horses out on their winter grazing

I was hoping for at least another few weeks but I have no grass and was feeding hay so decided that was daft when I've got grass in the winter fields.

There is no denying it winter is on its way

I've done the same. TB lost condition in August, so he's gone on to winter grazing already.

I've also put 4 on one of my winter fields on sunday, was hoping to hold off another week or two but without starting to feed haylage already, it wasnt going to happen.

I have loads of grass left but am giving morning hay as its so bloomin cold.

Our field system has been messed up with mine being on restricted turnout, and another having to buddy him. So have been on their winter grazing for weeks. Hopefully when it gets to winter and fingers crossed the restricted turnout ends we will be able to open up all the fields so they have enough (not that they'll move from the stables come November!)

That seems a bit of a strange thing to do. Grass produces just as much heat during digestion as hay. Why would you waste your money?
