I am struggling to find answers or advice on this - Google has nothing.

Wife has a 1996 Iveco 75E Horse box, and we notice in the colder weather (i.e. just starting about now) the Indicators can occasionally do not work on start up(nor Hazards).
They seem to fix themselves sometimes after 10 mins, as if current dries out a bad connection etc

I figured a sticky relay and went through the glove box fuse box to feel for ticking flashers / relays but Google appears to suggest it is an 'Electronic' which I read as expensive flasher module.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome !

Welcome to the world of Italian electrics!!!! yes possibly damp in a conectors ,switches or the flasher unit , maybe worth tying another flasher unit im sure a breaker would have one , have a look at the fuse/relay
board see if there is any sign of burning or corrosion ....

No experience with iveco but my fiat had a similar problem ... Turned out to be a spot (tiny) of corrosion on one of the bulb fittings... That was then feeding back wrong signals and upsetting the system so to speak. It would sort itself after a little while (drying up / vibrating back in place). The mechanic found it in the end, put another fitting in and ... Voila - no more problems!

That's kinda what I am saying.
I have checked all the relay type plug ins on the Fuse panel in the 'glovebox'
All good and sound.

I guess a few bags of Silca Gel may help too.
I read a not some where it is the loights / connections in the wing mounted lights that trip this problem in the cold but I have not found out much else.

Wonderd if anyone here had a similar problem in the past....

Mine does this I just start it up and let it tick over before I go.
garage had two goes at sorting it so I just use the warm up method.

Mmm, so at least I am not alone.

the Missus ran it on tickover for 45 mins yesterday with the Heating (Cab & Living) on, and it still did not come back to life.

I went and picked it up today and it took about 5 miles before they came back to life.
I have it sat in the Yard with the Engine / Living heating on and the windows open a crack hoping to dry (??) it out.
I have stuffed a few bags of Silica gel in the glovebox area too.

I will swing by the local Auto Electrical place (that also caters for HGV etc) at lunch and see what they know.

I hate Intermittent faults !
Once I fix this one I have to start to figure out why My Toooper has an ABS light on occasionally :(

THats much longer than mine has ever taken. Mine started with this after I had an accident and it sat for nine months not started. last winter it was being used and I was putting an electric radiator in it regularly to keep the living nice and dry and it only did it once , ten minutes if the longest mine has taken so I took the view that it was not worth the cost getting the garage to look again, I,ve not been much help but it's better when your not alone!

my defender has an intermittent ABS light on too garage have not found why either do you think that is spooky?

See, that's the thing with Electrikery Gremlins that are intermittent.
They cost a fortune to trace, and you end up replacing parts that often don't need it !

Oh. and just dropped off the Lorry back at the Livery for a helpful chap to point out a brake light is out !!!!

:(

Well- just as some don't like threads without and answer:

It looks like it was a duff Flasher unit. (mounted under the dash by the kick panel Passenger side)
Main Dealer part only £150 + VAT !

If anyone is looking for a second hand temperamental Flasher give me a PM !
;)
