Anyone ever had one / got one? How big to they tend to grow and there temperments? I've heard good things and that they don't grow too big! Me and OH are thinking about getting one, but it needs to be small as don't have enough room for a big dog, plus want something reasonably chilled out but with a personality still! Got plenty of time for one as OH is studying so home most the time.

Lady at the yard has one !!!
It is very very very small

i have a jackauhauh, shes the most adorable little girl, about the size of a small kitten at the mo(10 weeks) is a very even mix and will prob b the size of smallish jr, she has the sweetest(girly)temp, but does stick up for herself. From day one shes been house trained (pretty much)(shes v switched on) she loves lots and lots and lots of cuddles n oh yes FOOD !!! v small and v portable!!!!!!!

I only know one and it is very cute and pretty but quite a nervous, yappy little thing.

The owner's other dogs are calm and confident, so it seems to be more a case of temperament than upbringing.

I've known two.

One was the best ratter ever (even though some of the rats weren't much smaller than her)!!!! Slightly nervous hen meeting new dog & people, but O.K. once introduced!!!

The other is nervous/agressive with other dogs and nervous round lots of people by fine with own family.

My terrier, who is nearly 5, has chihuahua in her ancestry and she comes from solid hunt terrier stock. You can see the chihuahua in her if you hold her ears up, otherwise you wouldn't really think about it. I think she's great, terrific character and as bold as you like, but very loving and just loves any amount of cuddling and comfort. Total people dog. Absolutely spoilt. I'd never heard of terriers with chihuahua in before I got her, but they are now getting a popular cross. I have/am considering putting her in pup to a chihuahua, but I don't know. What if anything happened to her!

Meet the bitch, if you want to take her home with you, then you look at the puppies.
If you're looking for a small dog it's really more than ever Buyer beware, lots of people thinks that if it's small it sells. So what that it's completely nuts and bonkers, it's small, how much damage could they do? Don't buy from Cash&Carry-breeder, make demands!

Some Jack Russels doesn't socalize to well with other breeds. Neither breed believes they are the size they are, but Chihuahuas usualy have a little more self-preservation instinct than Jack Russels.

I do think ISH_Lovers photo is adorable, and I do wish that my puppies didn't grow so fast past the smaller size, but if I wanted something reasonably chilled out, I wouldn't be looking at Jack Russelmixes, but that's just my experience.

I know of one..... Charlie...... its the nastiest, yappiest most annoying dog ever....

He has retained all the worst traits of both breeds, and they wish they had never got him

Met one the other day, as it happens, an extremely sweet and mellow little fellow. Only thing was, he was completely blind from juvenile cataracts and he was only 3. His current owner got him from a rescue. Had to say, the guy also owned another JRT x and a Cairn X, and they were the sweetest little trio ever, very un-terrier personalities.

My own Jacks are from a line of super natured dogs and frankly if my orginal bitch had not displayed the same suberb temperament she would Never have been bred from consequently her daughter and grandaughter have inherited her temperament also coupled with their sires execellent temperament and any future breeding will always be based on these qualities and IMHO its the only way to breed Health and Temperament foremost.
