Jack Russells?

We have one meg 7 yrs old and a 18month old springer. She's a typical terrier with selective deafness and yes you need to be firm from the start, we were and she's generally good as gold now, very easy and we can take her anywhere. she will happily have half an hour walk or do 8 hours (unless its raining when she will refuse to leave house or car and has a bed day - usually does this about once a week!) Think theyre all like that!
They both get on great but the JRT def top dog! Wouldn't be without her, she is my hot water bottle!

I think a lot of people who havent ever had JRTs stereotype them as snappy aggressive little dogs but those who have them generally agree that they are amazingly fun, clever and great little dogs. Our 20 month old bitch is just brilliant - her only fault is that she is nervous with strangers initially and shouting but on the plus side it means she doesnt pester people. She is a real family dog, never agressive, will play and run for hours with the children but just as happy to have a duvet day. She is my right hand man, comes everywhere with me when practical, hardly ever put her on the lead. She has learnt so many tricks and has done agility and would be really good if I had time to do more. I wouldnt change her for the world. We were quite strict with her as a puppy and took her to puppy classes but it means that she is incredibly well behaved and knows what is acceptable behaviour and tries very hard to please, cant remember the last time she was naughty (oh yes I can, it was when she tried to shovel fresh horse poo down her mouth this evening!) Plus she is self cleaning (gets filthy on walks but quickly dries) doesnt smell and doesnt shed that much hair.

Enjoy your new little chap - you'll have a great fun with him and he will be your best friend, dont let your initial reservations affect your relationship with him - you will be missing out on something special

Zoelouisem...what a beautiful pic..both your dtr and doggy look like theyre having a brilliant time...you can see the enjoyment in both their faces!

Lets see, when raised by people like my parents, (God love them and rest their souls) JRT's are nasty opinionated yappy pushy little B's.

When raised by people like me, who has had Doberman, and decides from day one that the JRT will be raised just like a Dobie, then they are lovely

Full of life, energy, definitely need a job, loyal, funny, smart, did I mention that they think they are Dobies

Enjoy, big dog, small body, and irrepressible:D

Love 'em - best dogs ever. My first dog was a JRT, Scrappy, he was a real old fashioned JRT with short queen anne legs and a brilliant personality.

I have fostered quite a number of terriers over the years (13 to be precise!), ranging from a deaf youngster, to one who had been very badly beaten and was terrified of people - he took a long time to rehabilitate.

Oddly enough, even though I have three dogs, I now only have half a JRT - Jasper is a JRT x Daxi! The other two are a Miniature Pinscher and a welsh terrier x. I am not quite sure how that happened as the MinPin was supposed to be a JRT - mind you having a MinPin is like having a JRT on acid!!!

Hope you enjoy your new member of the family and looking forward to cute pictures!!

By friend's jack russells mother and daughter, farm bred. The lamb is being bottle fed and so the dogs keep her warm. She now thinks she is a jack as well.

Well the Jack Russell arrived last night. Walked in like he owned the place and swaggered in. Someone has high opinions of himself!

He loves attention, has been sitting on my brothers head demanding fuss from all angles. He loves tennis balls, has a collection of 4 that hes found from somewhere but is getting better at giving them back! He loves looking out of the window and watching the world go by but likes to know where people are.
Hes had a few accidents in the house but is starting to figure out that the back garden is the place to go. He's only a year old and has come from Ireland and has spent about 6 weeks at the rescue so is a little behind but hes learning quickly.
Hes a little bit skinny but nothing some TLC shouldn't fix. Hes actually very cute and has spent 20 minutes under a duvet cuddling.

Enzo arrives at the weekend hopefully after his final health checks and our home check.
