Seeking show jacket recommendation for a larger child.

My daughter is keen to start showing this year so I’m on the hunt for a suitable jacket for her. She will be showing in both show hunter pony classes as well as show pony classes. The problem is she is rather tall for her age but also holds a bit of baby fat in her mid section. It’s been a nightmare trying to find a jacket that will fit her. A size 28 inch Tagg jacket fits her perfectly length wise and cuff wise but no way was I getting the buttons to close. I’ve tried a size 29 inch showing selection jacket and that too struggles to button but it is a few inches too long on the cuffs and in the back length. They only size that will comfortably button is a 32 inch jacket but that swamps her in length and in the shoulders.
I have shown horses for a number of years and my pet hate is seeing a child drowning in a jacket that doesn’t fit and the dreaded sack of potatoes look when you tie a number on.

Surely I’m not the only one that has dealt with this issue as a lot of kids hold weight in their tummies growing up….

Is there any brands of show jacket out there that are a bit roomier in the mid section?

I don’t want to go down the made to measure route yet as my daughter is still growing but may consider getting a second hand jacket tailored to fit.

Similarly any advice on getting a jacket tailored would be much appriected!

I would just get a larger size, definitely second hand, and have it tailored - sighing slightly as she will undoubtedly grow and it won’t fit for very long. The amount of effort I would go to depends on the level of showing and how much it matters that it is a perfect fit. Easier to adjust arm length and take in the waist a little than to adjust shoulders. I just use a local tailor who is fabulous (ex Greek military).

ETA: with the 29 jacket you could move the buttons across an inch or two yourself if there’s space, would that make it work? As for the back length I’d probably just put up with it until you’re sure she wants to continue.
