On Thurs night I took the dogs out about 1030pm, could hear the horses running about so went down the field to see what was going on.
Jack was running up and down the field at full speed, (the other 3 were grazing happily & taking no notice of him) I got hold of him, checked him over & him seemed fine (bit hot but no cuts or swelling, fly bites etc), but as soon as I let him go he started running about again. In the end I brought him in, he went sideways, backwards, reared up etc but as soon as he was in the stable he was back to normal. There were still some midgies about which do really bother him but I've not seen him like this before. When I put him out in the morning he just ran up and down until after about 40min I brought him back in. I was worried about him getting hurt or hurting one of the others.
I tried to lunge him yesterday but he just pi$$ed about, rearing, throwning himself in the air, spinning round...
He's a lovely boy, always has allot of energy but usually only messes about when he's been ridden, he's always a perfect gent to handle/ lunge. Not sure what to do with him!!! When he's in the stable he's fine, its as soon as he steps outside that the problems start.
He's 13. dutch warmblood, 15.2hh, been with me 5 years.
Any advise?
