Our local show was on today, a proper Country agricultural show with cars lined up round the rings, a huge beer tent , lots of stands etc, so after Jacques naughty dismounting of his rider at the ODE yesterday we decided a trip there would do him some good, lots to look at, spooky fillers etc .
We dropped C and him there in the box and drove her car back home, only returning to collect them a while ago.
She did the SJ, and he had a hesitation at one fence but otherwise did fine, then went into the jump off with four faults but got eliminated for missing out a jump! The sj was for experience anyway so didn't matter.
Then they did the Open Working Hunter, 10 in the class, and guess who won? yes Jacques.. They then went into the Championship and he won that too...!
The judge did notice his capped hock but said his attitude was so nice she disregarded it.
I think we will investigate cosmetic removal of it at some point unless anyone has a better method..?
They then did another Sj round but he was getting a little tired and had some poles down, so called it a day after one round, at four his stamina isn't there yet and yesterday was a tiring day.
It did however make him less inclined to have the bucking fits and he behaved well all day.
We have two super trophies sitting on the window ledge for a year, funnily enough one has been in that place for three years now, as several different horses of ours have won that class in the past. I really must get them engraved this time.
He can have tomorrow off, just shows my husband and I were apprehensive though when earlier today the air ambulance flew over the house towards the show, I said I hoped he hadn't got her off again and my husband said if he had, he would shoot him (he wasn't joking either I suspect..)
he is proving C's faith in him as the judge loved him too (but no we wouldn't have allowed her to ride him if she'd wanted to either)
