ok, now what i say dont take for sure, and sorry if it doesnt make sense
but i heard that the Jaguar Dressage saddles hold you in such a tight, costricted position that you are not able to move your weight around in the saddle (you get me?) but the actual quality of the saddle is amazing, this is what i heard from a friend.
I have one and love it. It does take some getting used to as the blocks are so big but i dont find it restricting. They definately suit some horse better than others- Bailey never went very well in it but I just had it fitted to Megs and she goes beautifully in it.
they are god if you and your horse are thin - i dont mean that in a rude way, but they definately arent suitable for the 'larger' rider. And are suited to more TB types than the wider horse.
i really loved riding in one, but im skinny so it didnt constrict my movement. i didnt buy one for my mare as shes a cob/tb and they arent designed for that sort of shape.
Albions imho are defiantely the best make to buy if you are prepared to spend that amount of money on a dressage saddle.
I used one for a short time when I first bought my horse as we needed to get him fitted for a saddle. It was basically the only saddle of my trainer's that was anywhere near a fit for him.
I didnt get along with it. It rubbed the skin off the top of thighs and I found the seat rather uncomfy
Im not sure why it rubbed me.. I hadnt been out of the saddle or anything... the only thing I can think of is that Id been riding in a wow prior to this and if you've seen the construction of them at the top, its a rather different shape.
In terms of their construction though, I think they're of good quality
tried 2 jaguars when buying a new dressage saddle - don't know what models though - one was too flat in the seat and one too restrictive - unfortunately saddler didn't have the mid way one in my lads size.
Have ridden in a friends though and tbh much preferred my Barnsby Davison and my other friends Ultima and would personally go for one of those above the Jaguar - however - I'm not skinny!
My OH who is skinny prefers the Jaguar and his Kieffer Ulla Salzgeber Wall Street to my Barnsby.
Guess what I'm trying to say is wait and see - what suits one doesn't suit another.
Well im not huge but do have 'riders thighs!' and the saddle is a medium which i believe comes up slightly narrower. My horse is 17hh 3/4TB with high withers and is currently in a Jefferies saddle which is a narrow. The saddle is v reasonably priced so am considering an investment buy if its no good, just wandering what to expect- thanks guys!
Ive got one, not through choice more through my horses short back!
I dont find it restricting at all and Im not thin. I had to have a flatter seat though to accomodate me as I really needed a 17 1/2 and my boy could only take a 17 inch and a deep seet wouldnt suit the shape of my horse. I borrowed my friends 16 1/2 inch deep seated Jaguar whilst I was waiting for mine as it was made to measure and loved it even though my backside spilled out of it... LOL I love the deep safe seat most dressages saddles seem to give. Not this one though! Mines the xkc close contact dressage saddle.
