Jake had his sidebone shoes put on today with a hoof trim.
OH took him due to my slipped disc, but apparently he was very well behaved and has 'spiral' shoes on both front feet.
They start of thinner on one side and get thicker as they go around to the other side (like a wedge). Apparently, they look pretty much like normal shoes. Jake also had 2 grooves put into his hoof just below the cononary band on his sore foot, just under the sore area to help with hoof flexibity in the absence of his cartilage which is now bony. He will have these grooves redone every 6 months.
Isn't it amazing what they can do nowadays? I am totally fascinated.
Now it is a question of waiting and seeing if this helps, all fingers and toes and limbs are crossed.
