James Stirling or similar saddles?

Hello. I’ve been suggested to look at James Stirling close contact saddles for our pony in 16.5” medium width. Does anyone know anything about this make? Any good? Or anyone know what saddles are similar to these so I can widen my search?

16 years in the trade and never heard of them, sorry. What's the context? Shape of horse, rider, requirements....and did someone recommend this brand?

James Sterling used to be associated with Shires equestrian, back in the 90s they were producing bridles mainly. They seem to have delved in to close contact saddles.
I don't think Shires sell the range anymore though. Their bridles back then were made in India using English leather and the quality (from my point of view as a saddler) was pretty cheap and cheerful. Had LOADS through my workshop for repairs. That could flag you as a warning or if they have changed hands and in to saddles now they could have cleaned their act up. Until I get my hands on one to have a good look and give you an honest opinion I would advise advance with caution.

There's been one on eBay, looks pretty bog-standard English flocked jump saddle but this channel width is a hard no for me.

I'm SO intrigued as to why you've been recommended them.

It’s a saddle that the old owners used to ride him in and say was a perfect fit but he didn’t come with tack. I’ve googled it and found a few online but not his size. He’s a 13.3hh Welsh cob cross hackney so medium wide so I’m trying to see if anyone knows the brand and can suggest a similar alternative that I can start looking looking with to determine fit. Does that make better sense? Thanks for responding
