Does anyone know if the figures on the side of the bags of James wellbeloved dog kibble are an accurate indication of the amount to feed? I've just bought some to feed a small terrier who is just about the right weight and I dont want her getting any fatter. Having weighed it out, the amount reccommended looks to be far more than she used to get of a cheaper brand of kibble.

its a recommendation, not gospel. how much does your dog weight? if she is incline to gain weight you could either put her on the senior/light or swap 1/3 of it for a mixer so it fills her up but no nutritional value.

I feed JWB and I feed no where near the recommended amount!!

I feed about half (will check the bag tonight) of what is recommended for her size and age and she is a nice weight (maybe a little chubby).

i have been feeding jwb turkey and rice kibble for 6 months and use a farriers formula mug to measure it out. my whippet/bearded collie gets 1 1/2 mugs in2 feeds and my collie/lab who is a stockly build gets 1 mug in 2 feeds. i only used the info on the pack as a guide and my two look the right weight on the amount i feed. hope this helps...:D

I don't feed JWB but I'm sure the same goes for any kibble. I usually feed the advised amount to a couple of mine, the rest get less in varying amounts. A couple of ours need a reasonable amount, some less and some a lot less. The entire ones of both sex generally need more. We have proper scales and are very strict with amounts fed!

Dex is on this now- and as he could do with a bit more weight does get the "advised" amount.... but that IS putting weight on him now, so for maintenace will get less.
