I am utterly shocked at the news that Jane passed away last night !

She was an outstanding horsewoman as anyone who had the pleasure of seeing one of her ponies in action in any sphere couldn't deny !

I spent my whole youth wishing my parents could afford a Pebbly pony and my adult life wishing I wasn't nearly 6ft so I could have one

What a shame and a great loss to the equine community

RIP Jane

HHO have just posted a tribute

Renowned pony and eventer producer and trainer Jane Beswick died last night (20 February), aged 59.

Mrs Bewick, who was based in Evenlode in the Cotswolds, was the mother of eventers Hayden and Hayley Hankey.

Her “Pebbly” horses and ponies were very successful in working hunter and eventer classes, with numerous wins in the Burghley young event horse classes and championships at the Royal International Horse Show and Horse of the Year Show.

Mr Hankey told H&H that his mother suffered a stroke last night.

•A fuller tribute will be printed in next week’s Horse & Hound (1 March).
