JAS

I really enjoyed it this year. And think its a good thing to do to kick start the BE season although dont expect to get anywhere unless your surname is collett or tattersall

I think its a waste of money and does not teach you anything. It drives me insane that Laura Collett can fall off yet still get high marks for her riding in fact far higher than someone who does a lovely clear and does not fall off. It is the most biased competition possible and I would rather do 4 BSJA classes (approx same price) than one of those as I think you will learn more.

oh gosh that is shocking!!!! i admitt i do think she is a very gd rider but it should just be done on the round they see on the day! i think i will go for the 4 bsja classes as well and they arent that close to me anyway!

I think she is a great rider but I have seen Laura Collett fall off and have a stop and still get excellent riding marks in fact better than those who have gone clear. To me that is wrong after all good xc is about an effective seat and effective riding which by having a stop and falling off does not really demonstrate!!

I echo everything Lec says, last year I saw one of the young riders fall off when her horse seriously dumped her, it ment it, and the comment on the sheet was 'cheeky horse' and I think she won the class, if not top 3.

There was only 1 person who got round inside the time and they got a 2 out of 6 for their ringcraft? How does that work?

If you get frustrated by dressage judges you are going to hate this.

The biggest waste of money imaginable, it is very expensive and most centres do their own Eventers jumping anyway and at least they are judged fairly.

If you dont mind about not getting placed, its a great competition - it was a huge amount of fun when i did it 2 years ago on my 15hher. But it was incredibly frustrating to be beaten every time by known names. Going to take Hattie this time to see if i can prove my theory of only known names doing well wrong - will go belly up as always but its nice to have a try!!

I did it when they first started holding them, and as they grew in popularity the same people started winning them year after year and mere mortals didnt get a look in. They are fun, a nice way to get you back into gear and do something different from BD/BSJA but thats it. Very expensive too.

I wont be doing them this year, I did in the first 2 years, they are a bit pointless and expensive. I came second in one and won £25, but as the others said it does appear to be a very closed shop.
PS I was on my mums horse who was quite push button, so just sat and looked pretty and went fast!

I'll be doing them as havent done them before and my registration isnt up for renewal until next may... Im not bothered about being placed as Im quite aware I havent got a chance in hell of getting in the ribbons - its pretty obvious it's the most fixed thing ever! I just think it'll be good for my two to have a crack at it, and if I don't like it ..wont be doing it again

Don't know if Rosie will do it this year. She qualified for the final last year but didn't bother to go as she felt she had very little chance of getting anywhere
