Jaw strap instead of throat lash?

Looking at various bridle options atm and have come across a few with 'jaw straps' instead of throat lashes... Does anyone have views on the pros and cons? Are they for the same thing? (Basically to stop bridle slipping off forward unless I'm missing anything?)

I have never heard of jaw straps. Are they bridles from America and they just call it a jaw strap instead of throat lash?

I have the Micklem multi bridle and that has a jaw strap and an unusual shaped cavesson, so as to avoid all the major facial nerve points. I like it and my mare seems to go well in it. It also has a comfort poll/headpiece too (wide and soft) and the added bonus of being convertable to 2 types of bitless bridle. Hope this helps.

Yes, that is the kind of thing I'd seen YasandCrystal.

mrogers if you google "Micklem multi bridle" you see it is something like a throat lash but is fitted about half way between where a normal throat lash and a cavesson would go.

I got confused with American terms because they seem to use 'jaw strap' for both throat lash and curb straps.

Interesting to hear about the bitless option. I was thinking of using one as a sidepull as it happens...
