went upto find jays tail has been cut off, he has about 5 or 6 inches left below his dock, police have been informed.

just with my mare, but she wouldnt let anyone near her anyway.

hes totally spooked, got even more cuts and my poor boy cant swat flies away.

i swear if i find out who did it they will wish they had never been born

That happened to my boy a couple of years ago and it's only just about back to proper length now. Local gypsies cut it off to use on rocking horses they were making.
 
It happened by us too, and we found that they were being used for rocking horse tails!
We have a rocking horse with real hair and when we looked into getting it re-haired?? the price is enormous so worringly there is a market for hair.
 
Bless him, theres some horrid people out there. It happend near us a couple of years back that turned out to be kids
 
there was a spate of mane and tale cuttings off around here a couple of yrs ago someones highland stallion had his whole mane cut off they think it was due to jealousy that he was winning a lot at shows? very worrying poor horsey hope he ok. x
 
My friends mare had this happen to her a couple of years ago.

I agree with tasteofchaos - most likely done for a rocking horse!

The only consolation is that my friends mare's tail grew back really nice and thick afterwards

OMG, sometimes it pays tp have a horse that wont be caught eh :s

Poor you and him, especially at this time of year, it is ashame he did not knock their block off
 
how awful - what colour is/was his tail? Are certain colours more popular for rocking horses? Do you think it was 'travelling people' that did it or teenage neds?

Thats awful. I have seen some local driving horses which are docked have ribbons tied to the end of the tail so that they can still swat flies. looks a bit funny but seems to works.
 
That's just awful! I'm not surprised you're fuming! Whereabouts are you? (Just in case they strike again in that area.) Hope he's not been too spooked by the whole event.
 
Not a great pic but.........we paid nearly £150 to have tail and mane replaced when she got carried away grooming! I think they use the tail hair in the manes aswell so as to get the length.
Most common are black and grey tails. Chap who did ours told us he actually sourced his hair from the knackers yards...

OMG!!

Can I make two suggestions Asbo?

1. That you speed up that move

and

2. That you stick your fingers up to whichever a******e that did this to your horse, by getting dressed up in all you and your horse's Sunday gear, hold your head up high and go and have a lovely day at Ravelrig.

heard a local yard a mile away caught someone breaking in, wondering if its connected?

sadly i am struggling to find anything suitable, going to have to sit down with OH and discuss what to do as my not driving and being at uni plus needing to pick girls up from childminder makes it difficult

Don't worry about it, just make sure you explain to the judge(and everyone that looks at him), the judge should be understanding and it will also make more people aware of what some sh*theads will do.
