My key fob seems to have died on me so although the jeep is fine it aint going anywhere as i cant turn the immobiliser off! changed the batteries in the fob and it still doesnt work so does it need to be reprogrammed or something ?

I've always had it done at the garage so I don't know. Why not phone a garage and ask them?

I've just noticed its your birthday, Happy Birthday, hope the day gets better.

happy birthday!

We lost one of key fobs and bought a new one on ebay (if you find your one has died completely!) - double check prices before jeep dealer decides to charge one a very over priced one....

I've just called the AA..I have home start and the cars at home and it wont start! lol. They are sending someone out to see if they can do anything but i wont let them mess with the car as it isnt the car thats a problem!
Two bays , can it be as simple as just buying a new fob ? i thought they needed programming or something. It does say in the handbook to get a jeep garage to sort it if the batteries die which is a fat lot of use if you dont know when the batteries are going to die in the first place!!

HI, I just bought a Jeep and had this problem. Change battery then press unlock button 6 times to reprogramme. That should work

Batteries are available at Tesco . It will say on old battery, something like CR44. Can check for you if you are stuck

I had this problem with my Golf (not a Jeep I know), I ended up going into a key cutters for another reason and he told me that there is a little microchip in the key fob which immobilises the imobilizer, if this is dislodged or lost from the key fob then it won't do it's job and so renders the key fob useless.

He took my fob apart and lo and behold the microchip wasn't there (I did remember dropping the fob and it falling apart so that's when I lost it). He repaired alot of fobs and said he'd put a new microchip in for £40, the VW garage quoted me £115 for a new fob!

Hope that helps!
