Does anyone use either of these for a horse who is sensitive around the base of the ears?

also have noticed IR copies on ebay - does anyone know if these are any good?

ETA - also does anyone know of any other makes of bridles that are cut back around the ears? i could only find these two makes.

Love my IR copy from ebay - suprisingly good leather and a gorgeous brown colour. Well pleased. Horse now nearly puts bridle on herself rather than the fight we used to have!

I love my IR bridle and so does my horse. He has had ear problems before and I find the bridle is very comfortable for him and he doesnt mind having it put over his ears so much.
 
It was just on as IR bridle "like" Jefferies but was about a year ago. There is a genuine full size one on now £99 - just had a look.

seller I had the bridle from was an ebay shop. seller was - redevo999. You could send them a message and see if they still have any?
 
I have the Albion KB for Rauti and I love it. It's fab. Never had a Jeffries but did look at them in RideAway and they didn't feel as nice as the Albion, though it was just my impression.

and have just bought the Kieffer Steffen Peters. Kieffer are fantastic quality and have lots of 'comfort' bridles...have a look at all the different models here:

my boy has a very wonky head and i think the bridle i have (sabre cordoba) is a bit tight around the head/browband- i have ordered a full browband ( hes a cob bridle otherwise!) for the meantime, but ideally i would like to get the bridle replaced.

he is fine to put a bridle on btw - but when ridden he can get a bit upset, esp when asked to work up into the bridle. Anyway my saddler suggested either of these, but its really important to have it cut back as much as possible i think.
 
have you looked at those slightly bizarre looking D'yon bridles that have no pressure at all behind the ears, that's what i'd get a horse with an obvious problem. sederholmselect is the UK stockist i think.
i've got an IR bridle and it's lovely but it was quite solid to begin with, took a lot of care to soften it up.
 
yeah ive seen those, but im not sure if they would be dressage legal?

I have both and I rate the albion KB higher in terms of leather quality although I think the IR is slightly more padded. IR is a chunkier bridle allround don't know if this makes a difference? Mine was very supple from the beginning I didn't need to soften it up and I paired it with the eventa reins. The KB just came with bog standard reins.

I also have kieffer bridles and they do wear very well but not in the same league as the KB and the IR in terms of comfort.

You could try stroud saddlery - the designer there designed the IR bridle ("IR" are her initials) so their cutaway bridles are exactly the same.
 

Have you looked at the Kieffer Comfort I, II and III? They're all cut away at the ear.

Also, ages ago I remember contacting an American saddlery which had advertised on Dressage Today a fab bridle, really cut back -- it looked gorgeous but it was $400 (incl p&p to Europe) so I didn't buy it. If it's within your budget though I will try and find the email.

can say the quality of the leather of these bridles will be amazing. I have a saddle from them and it really is brilliant quality.
