Jeffries 5 point breastplate

Hi all

I got bought a Jeffries 5 point breastplate as a present before my first ever ode this Sunday... I LOVE IT!!! BUT unfortunately I don't think it fits him

My boy is 17'2 and it just seems quite tight around his neck... how would you check the fit of one of these things? Alternatively can anyone else recommend an alternative? Need it asap.

I have one of these on my 16.2hh and a smidge! And it fits him fine. Can you not make it any bigger?

I wanted one for my 17hh and have found a slightly cheaper one that I think i'll get him for next year, think "jessrulestheworld" has one im not sure of the brand

to be honest i am suprised as they come up quite big...they do need to be fairly tight. However i am not the best person to advise as tp how they should be positioned etc
 
Mine is on my 16.2hh and is on the tightest setting and he has HUGE shoulders! They are meant to be alot tighter than alot of people have them....
 
Ah thanks guys - esp for the pic (nice horse btw!!). So do you think it should be fairly tight then? I just thought that it would fit like a normal martinglale/breastplate? Should it be tighter than that?
 
They should be tight enough theat you ca just fit a flat hand under the breastplate easily all the way round. You can fiddle around with where the straps lie anyway, I prefer to have my leather strap at the front at more of an angle than HJ has on hers

I've jus got one for my 15.3 3/4 bred, although she is very narrow so might as well be full TB. It's fine around the neck and length ways for the martingale but i have had to put extra holes in the side attachments. I do think it's odd they only make one size, even though the do have a lot of adjustment. I'd have thought they're missing out by limiting who buys such a popular product.
I do love it though!!
