Hey,
I just wondered if i could get some opinions on the Jeffries Hawk Event saddles. I'm looking at getting a second hand one i've seen but i've only ever ridden in one jeffries before and not the event one. I liked it and found it comfy but not sure how much the event will differ especially a newer one.
Are they quite forward cut? Only ask as i tend to have a nasty habit of tilting forward if in the wrong saddle. Last saddle i tried for my lad was a forward cut Excelle saddle but realised it wasn't for me as too much of a jumping cut.
I want it for all round things, mainly hacking and schooling but want a comfy saddle that i can jump and hunt in too.
It's to go on a slimline 15.3 tb.
Thanks for any help/opinions anyone can give x

I had one from new, for many years. It was a really nice saddle. I loved it. I would have another one any day. I sold it when I lost my horse, but I regret getting rid of it.

When I replaced the horse I bought a second hand Albion Style, another nice saddle, but if I had to choose, I would go for the Jeffries.

Hi, thanks for that. An Albion was my second choice of make.

Seen the secondhand Jeffries for £350 so was thinking if it doesn't fit then hopefully there's enough of a market for them i won't be stuck with it too long.

i have a 2nd hand hawk event, and love it, it is very comfy, and i find jumping and general hacking it in very good. i sometimes think it is not forward cut enough for higher levels of eventing, but seeing as though im not there yet (!) it is more than adequate for me and my horse, and i would recommend one to any one

I used to have one for my mare. Really liked it but I bought a jumping saddle when I started to do more jumping as I didn't find the Jeffries secure enough on my mare - she could throw a stop in from time to time but had a very scopey jump. I prefer something more forward cut for jumping.

Just wanted to revive this thread - I currently use a Hawk Event but am looking to replace it as it doesn't fit my horse so well now (changed shape from youngster).
What did others who had this saddle change to?
I would like something a little more forward cut for jumping and eventing (Newcomers/Novice level), but just as comfy hopefully! I have long legs, particularly the hip to thigh distance. Any advice of which saddles to try very welcome.
