I've been looking for a second hand dressage saddle for a while now, and have come across a Jeffries. I have had experience with Jeffries leather in the past and they have always been good quality, but i have never come across a saddle of theirs. Does anyone have one, and what do you think of it? Obviously it will be professionally checked over and fitted by a saddler before i ride in it. Also do they come up wide/narrow?

thank you! :)

l've not had a jeffries dressage saddle but l've a stamford working hunter saddle for my new forest ponies as l've had numerous problems finding a saddle that fits.

l've had it since 1997 & it's still going strong because l've done my utmost to look after it. l also wanted an all round saddle for jumping & general use & l couldn't recommend them enough.

Can't vouch for the newer saddles because like most things some products aren't as good as they used to be for quality etc. Good luck finding your saddle

Jeffries' leatherwork is excellent quality imo. I have an ancient Jeffries' bridle that is years old and still good. Had a Hawk Event saddle which was very well made and super comfy - I sold it on as not a fan of GPs, but the saddle itself was lovely, perhaps a bit weighty, that would be my only criticism.

I have a jeffries WH saddle that I would say is extra wide, at a guess must be about 25 years plus old and still in excellent condition (although hasn't actually bin used in last 10 years but oddly it hasn't attracted any mold atall?) my bridles are jeffries, I wouldn't buy anything else, the quality speaks for itself

I have a Jeffries Innsbruck dressage saddle. Bought it new about 20 years ago, leather is great and it's still got loads of life in it and is currently on loan to a friend who is struggling to find a saddle her horse likes ( he loves my Jeffries but it's not for sale). It's a medium but does come up wide.

could i ask roughly how tall you are as i have quite long legs and I'm not sure whether i'll fit?!

Im 5'1" but have long leg & short body for my height.
The Innsbruck is same tree and design as the KN Symphony saddle. My trainer has one she uses on young horses and she's 6 ft.
Both saddles have a flatter seat than the more modern deep seated dressage saddles and less of a knee roll so you're not held in position and have more room to adjust your position.

I have Jeffries hawk event saddle, love the design, super quality, so comfy and great to do everything in! Only downside is how heavy it is :( weighs a ton compared to my other saddles.

Will almost certainly depend on age, I've seen a (very expensive) Stamford recently that wasn't nice quality at all, in less than five rides the leather was marked to the extent that the flsh showed through, I'd say it wasn't tanned well at all. This was a 2014 or 2015 saddle.
