Hi,

I am looking for a few books to take on holiday and fancy the Jenny Pitman books. There appears to be a series about Jan?
Can anyone tell me which book is the first in the series?

Any other horsey reads that any one can recomend?

Thanks in advance.

I've read them all but can't for the life of me remember what the first one is called (or the others for that matter) - Good read though.

1. On the Edge
2. Double Deal
3. The Dilemma
4. The Vendetta
5. The Inheritance

I'm just waiting for the next one to come out. Well worth reading.

Hiya, the first one is On The Edge. I've read them all, they get a tad predictable after a while, but still entertaining enough as a light holiday read.

I love the books of Dick Francis, have bought loads from charity shops. They mostly work to a formula, he has a distinctive style, but all are ripping yarns, great stories.

John Francome is similar to DF with a bit more sex and violence!

Actually I read 'The Inheritance' and thought it was pants. Badly written and very predictable. I wouldn't bother with another one!

I've read them all and I didn't like "The Inheritance" either. The first two are ace.

the only one i have not read is the inheritance so i can not comment on that. I did enjoy the books but they are too pradictable.. reminded me of Dan Browns books in pradictability..

Now Dick Francis is a different league.. fantastic..

I would also recommend Labyrinth and Sepulchre by Kate Mosse if you enjoy well written, indepth mystery stories!
She is a very talanted writer with the ability to produce amazing emotion (EG in Labyrinth, i cryed my heart out in once chapter. In another chapter in the book, i physically vomited and this was due to the discription.)

Jodi Picoult books for utterly addictive reading. So long they keep you going for days as well!
If you want a horsey one to take try 'The Maze' by Lucy Rees.

I really enjoyed the first two JP books, but found that they did become more predicatble, and have not read The Inheritance yet.

I love Dick Francis, and buy a lot of his books from charity shops etc. I also really like John Francome and would recommend either.

Another horsey/crime writer is Lyndon Stacey - the books are amazing! I cannot put them down!

Butting in here, but if anyone ever wants to buy a First Edition Autographed Hardback of Dick Francis, we had the whole collection and have about half a dozen left. Don't buy them anymore since his wife died who we heard was the main writer of his books, and once she died, the stories were never the same.

Agree with the John Francome ones - they are good to read. Must admit, not read any of Jenny Pitmans yet - must give them a go when we ever get time.
