Jeremy Clarkson’s bred a litter

The adult dogs are frequently pictured and appeared on the program wearing Tractives, and the only reason I managed to sleuth out any of this conversation is because I had the exact same one with my OH, who asked if they were electric collars. If it weren’t for that prior knowledge none of you would have been making a lick of sense 😂

This is a fairly bulky piece of kit. Is it a tracker?

ETA. I think I've found it. Is it the Smart dog tracker, XL battery?

I have that one for Cooper. Its tractive XL. Not the new model. They dont need charging very often which is probably why he went for that model, same as me.

I live next door to Clarkson now, literally next door. I've just seen Harriet out baling straw so I'm guessing shes back again.

I dont know much about the dogs other than they bark all the bloody time and mine dont want to go down the footpath hes pretty much blocked off due to dogs going nuts on the otherside of a solid gate.

Wow, you might end up BFF's! 😂. What a lovely part of the world you live in. I hope you are in better circumstances now than you were. How close is his actual house to the farm shop and barn etc?

Things arent quite as dire now. Its an absolutely stunning part of the world and I have discovered I love the cotsolds, although the roads drive me mad!

Its a bit of a weird set up. Theres chipping norton, big touristy village and chadlington, tiny very exclusive village and in the middle is diddly squat. I watched the TV show and assumed the council very badly treated JC, and then I moved here and found out the truth and no he blumming well wasnt! The original farm, the one he blew up for no good reason, was replaced with a Mc Mansion of epic proportions, the farm shop is as far away as he could possibly get it, on the other side of what is a road but might as well be a dirt track. Tiny single lane road. The car park is on rented land on the other side of the road to the shop.

I am so, so, so glad I wasnt here when the shop opened. He made peoples lives a total misery. An awful lot of people actively detest him. No one local goes in the shop, we all go to the "proper one" a couple of miles down the road. The general consensus is its over hyped and over priced. But mainly no one has forgiven him for blocking them in their houses for months when the shop opened. I find its best not to mention it to anyone! I do find myself looking at the plough lines and things and being very judgey when I walk the dogs though 😂

The beautifully annotated map below shows the farm shop, the rectangle is the parking and the x is his house, roughly in the same place as the original house

And just for some tea, this is taken of the field overlooking the carpark and we cant decide if its harriet or not and I absolutely refuse to be all star struck and ask 😂😂

I didn’t used to like him but after watching the show I’ve changed my mind a bit. He is showing the general public how hard it is to make money when farming so that’s a good thing. A lot of us be on here have farmer friends or are farmers themselves so I think we have a better idea than Joe Bloggs

I like the programme. Mr P said he’s done more to raise awareness of British Farming and how tough it’s been the past few years than anyone/thing else.
I’ve been stuck in diddly squat traffic in a horse box in roasting sun, a couple of years ago now and did not like anything about him/shop at that moment in time
🤦‍♀️😂
Glad to hear it’s got better! I’ve avoided going that way ever since!

No traffic at all now thank god!

Theres always traffic in Burford, but the pub doesnt seem to have made it any worse. I think its in a good position to handle the traffic is generates. Not sure Burford could have coped with the nonsense that happened in Chipping Norton!

No agree. Having to drive through Burford twice a day was a factor in me finishing my last proper horse job! It should have taken me 20 minutes but sometimes took over an hour in the summer 🤦‍♀️

Anyhow, off on a tangent!
Hopefully good homes will be found for all puppies, labs seem the popular Cotswold side kick (yes I know, guilty!)

I was surprised to not see signs for the pub driving through Burford a few weeks back. I was wondering if we’d be stuck going through there.
It’s not actually in Burford and to be fair is in a good spot traffic wise, had he gone ahead with the one in Bourton it would have been absolutely horrendous, that said I do wonder if he’d have been able to turn it around as no one else ever has made a go of the place.
Bourton is struggling tourist wise anyway though.

Honestly, I'm sure, after 50+ years of drinking it, I am a bit of a lager aficionado. That Hawkstone stuff I found awful. And it's so expensive!!😐. It tasted to me like old man's wee 😮
Eww I read that as old Mares wee, which initially I found perfectly acceptable, then I re read as old Man’s wee and absolutely got the ick 🤢😂

I found it completely undistinctive but really drinkable and refreshing - the lager, not the wee!

I see today that he's had a TB case which is rotten news.

Undistinctive, good description!

Absolutely awful re TB. I would not wish that on any farmer.

And edited to add that I think he has done the best PR job for farmers, agriculture, pubs, eating local produce etc.

I expect his dogs had every health test going, and I'm not convinced he would sell for any more than anyone else.

We are going to see if we can pop in today en route to Herefordshire. I’m not keen but the OH wants to, so we’ll see. I think it’ll be heaving.

It shouldnt be, its a big place with the tent etc. Its fully booked for months in advance, but you can get drinks and theres food from the van etc that you dont need a booking for.

Edit as its after 4pm so absolutely useless advice at this time no doubt!

Drove by the overflow carpark, which was overflowing! Decided against it, I’m just not bothered enough. To be fair, it was lunchtime and I was Keener to get to the Airbnb. Traffic after the pub was pretty poor. Think we’ll go home via the M4 instead. The Birdlip roundabouts are terrible currently.
