Took Jerry to his first show today, just doing some in-hand classes for experience. It was pouring with rain when we got there, unloaded him and he was a little wild to say the least, would stand still and spent most of the time on two legs

First class was the sports horse in hand, he was a complete idiot bless him, wouldn't walk or stand still, but we managed to get through it and come second, so was really pleased, judge really liked him, and said to just work on calmness and he would be super

Second class was the show hunter in hand, and he went in and was loads better this time, managed a half decent show, and came first! So so chuffed with him, so we ended up in the championship, by this point he had really settled and walked around quite calmly, did our trot up and he really showed off, we got called in first and won! so for a horse that has never been anywhere before and a person that doesn't do showing it wasn't too bad

He was so pleased to get in the trailer out of the rain, I have never been so soaked in my life, had to empty my boots out as they were full of water. Anyway, am really pleased with the little chap, and hopefully he will be just as good for his first ridden outing next month

Thanks for reading, pictures in PG shortly

I am really chuffed with him, especially as he really began to settle by the end of it, my one attempt at showing him went a lot better than I thought it would, hopefully he will start some ridden stuff next month, starting with a nice little walk-trot test

Oh that's wonderful! Well done. Having seen the pictures, I don't envy you doing three shows in that weather!

It was raining stair rods!

Jerry's price is seeming cheaper and cheaper as the weeks pass I bet eh? (I'm right aren't I.....you thought he was too cheap, and worried the seller would back out, when you bought him didn't you?)

woohoo go Jerry, what a great day you've had, and fab pictures in PG

hope you've warmed up now too

Oh bum

I had lesson yesterday afternoon and was nice and warm, sis had 3 layers on watching me. sorted Pidge out and got Sunny ready and Chris rode, I was freezing watching her so ambled round the school putting poles up etc just to keep warm. Did give in a put the central heating on at home as it was just so cold. When's your next outing with Jerry?

cool, which tests are you doing? you looked like you had plenty of control though? have tried doinga bit with Pidge sometimes as thought of doing in hand hunter etc but I can't keep up with him when he trots

Weather is vile here, there was one of the local shows on yesterday and about 1.30pm there was the grand total of 4 horseboxes there

normally its packed.

will expect another report and pictures from the dressage, think he will look rather good turned out for dressage
grin.gif

Ah I see was he just full of himself then

will make sure mum is present with the camera (although she isnt so good at action shots

)

Was his first ever outing , and he was very excited, but he did start to calm down in the ring by the last class, although he was still nuts waiting around, but its just babyish behaviour, and hopefully next time he will settle quicker

must be all mums then as it took mum ages before she actually got a picture of me over a jump, got loads before or after the fences and lovely ones of mine and Pidges bum landing after the fences
blush.gif
she is better now though
smile.gif

fingers crossed he settles quicker next time, though if that was his first time then hopefully he will

Pidge goes to sleep when we are near the dressage arena at local show, but when I take him down to the SJ arenas I can't get him to stand still

he's too clever for his own good
