A really thoroughly thought-out table, I reckon.
So, what do you think you would give yourself out of 10 on his scale?
I'll stick my neck out - I think I'm a 6-7, maybe with a couple of the requirements of an 8 sometimes!
Good reminder of all the things I have to work on as soon as I'm back in the saddle...!
you?

I reckon I'm a 6, with occassional things from the 7.0 list, such as playing with extension/collection under supervision etc.

Confused.... I've got over 60% at PSG, but don't think I'm good enough to get a 10 in any competition let alone a FEI one!!!!

Someone has posted this on here before

Id say im about a 7 apart from the 1,000 rs of instruction and expecting top 10 placings at 1/2*'s! So maybe back end of 6 and start of 7 lol!

Very interesting!

I don't jump so I only looked at the other two. I would say I am about a 6 for the dressage and between 5-6 for Horsemanship although I always suffer from performance anxiety!!!!

dressage - 5 with odd 6

SJ - 4 tops lol! not tryed any really yet - got first comp a week on sunday though - been practicing in lessons at about 3ft

xc - mix of 5/6/7... think that's cos i'm basing some of it on hunting experience... combinations not consistant yet - was working on them at end of season last year... happy over skinnies etc etc... but all still at small heights

horsemanship... difficult one to judge... prob base myself at 6 but without the injections

Would say : flat work 6 and a 7 under instruction, show jimping 7 or 8 about 20 years ago, now barely a 2, cross country 1 (or a nought if that is possible) , knowledge a 6 without the injections and with occasional performance anxiety! There are some big leaps between some of the categories but very interesting.

I would hope i am a 7 across the board apart from the placing at 1*/2** as never had one above Novice as all bar one of mine have been youngsters who i have sold to pay for the next one as soon as they are 5/6yros.

Interesting! I'm hovering around 6.....but have experimented with extension/collection in lessons, but 3'6 looks REALLY big - but then my horse is 14.2hh!
So realistically I'm probably a 5.5!

Hm

DR: 5, 6 if I was flattering my abilities
SJ: 7
XC: 7 - Im quite happy riding at various speed but would be
hard pressed to say what excatly constitues
550mpm.
Horsemanship: well 8 except I rule my self out at 1 by never
having had 10hrs of instruction in my life
unless you count my mum ocasionally yelling: Leave that poor horses mouth alone!
LEG use your LEG!
and Shoulders back!!!

But a very interesting table, and some interesting progression of logic. But it does seem to assume you learnt to ride in a riding school environment (or so I think).

Dressage 6/7 as have been doing collections/extensions fr a while now

Sj a 6 with a couple of aspects of 7 but the negative one's

Xc, Id say 5/6 only because i hate bloomin drop fences even tho horse is fine with them

Horsemanship, and again 6/7 with the exception of IV's having never done one

Do people agree with how he has split the groups, anything u think shouldnt b there? Or be higher or lower

This is what I thought as well, surely it is easier to get over 60% at PSG than getting a 10 in an international competition?

I would i have said i was at 'step away from the horse and take up knitting' level.

Looking at that i would place myself at 7 with my old horse for sj & d but only just and a 6 at xc. Really dont know about the horseman side of it.
Since the loss of my old horse i think i've dropped down a level but that is more though confidence in my ablitiy than that i've forgotten everything i've learnt.

Because of strange groupings, between a 5-7 in all!! Quite a few bits in the higher categories, but then some glaringly obvious gaps too!!

i agree that some of the groupings are slightly weird.
afaik only trained vet nurses and vets are allowed to administer I/V drugs in the U.K., certainly my vets (who happily let me do I/M) wouldn't show me how.

I was taught how to do this - not sure if i could do it now though !!

I'm sure there are some posters who think they are a 10 for each, but they tend to post more in NL and SB so perhaps you should cross-post this there.

Personally I think I would be about a 6 for each, give or take.

about a 6-7 for all except horsemanship. I dont like that section because it requires you to drive a trailer, which isnt possible for me, but i do know worming requirements and can perform 1st aid.

3f6 dosent appear big, very comfortable at bigger heights. I dont expect to get a top 10 placing because i am an amateur and a young one at that with my first horse

hehe.. and back to much lower levels!

Dr 5 and maybe a little bit on my better days

SJ prob 5 again, though def not ahead of the motion due to his propensity to apply brakes occasionally

XC prob 4 and a bit, I have still done very little really and very much rely on the horse.

horsmanship I will let myself have a 6, only cos I am good at the sciency side of horses
