Just wanted to say thanks to JM07 for posting about The Horse Trust today.

Daughter has a friend to stay and they were going to go and get the pony, but her owner rang to ask if she could use her this afternoon as for once she had someone to look after her small grandson so she could take her not quite so small granddaughter out on the lead rein.
As she's not often that lucky (and has the kids quite a bit in the hols as she works in a school) plus her ageing TB has been lame all summer hols (absceses in foot), I was feeling a bit sorry for her, had a rapid think and had just read your post and clicked the link to their site, and asked the girls if they wanted to ride or would they like to visit the Horse Trust as it's only 30-40 minutes from us.

Well the girls looked at a few photos on the Horse Trust website and decided it'd be a good idea, so armed with a camera off we went. They had a great time stroking all the oldies and taking photos, and I had a good nose among their displays and learnt about all the valuable research work they usually sponsor into equine illnesses but are low on funding for the next year, aside from their retirement livery.

If anyone else wants to go visit it's not far from the M40 just north of J4 High Wycombe towards Princes Risborough, and they're open 2-4 daily and take your money for a donation to visit, and to buy some yummy local ice cream.

About 18 months ago, the S Wales and S West of England convoy took a huge amount of donated supplies, food, bedding to the Horse Trust as part of Operation Esther. The S Wales supplies alone filled a 3-horse lorry to the brim and a 2-horse trailer as well. The trailer was so crammed full that it was touch and go if it was safe to drive! The S West also filled several trailers/lorries - our convoy delivered literally tons and tons of supplies and hundreds of pounds in cash donations.

Operation Esther was the H&H Forum response to the Amersham horror. A dozen or more of the sickest horses and donkeys were taken to the Horse Trust. Other convoys went to other rescue centres that had taken other Amersham horses. It was a huge joint effort and every single member of H&H Forum deserves to be quietly proud of this contribution. Many areas (us included) were featured in local tv news - I like to think that we made a huge difference that day. We all stood up to be counted and we truly raised the profile of abused horses across the UK.

The Horse Trust gave our convoy such a rapturous welcome and we were allowed to quietly observe the desperately sick Amersham horses that were slowly mending in a separate barn. Dubsie - I'm so glad the kids enjoyed their visit - the link with H&H was stronger than you realised x

The Horse Trust does spend huge amounts backing research for the ''good of the horse'' and Paul Jepson speaks up for horse issues at the highest level.
The links between HHOers and the Horse Trust wil hopefully stay in place permanently.
