Just wanted to say thanks to JM07 for posting about The Horse Trust today.
Daughter has a friend to stay and they were going to go and get the pony, but her owner rang to ask if she could use her this afternoon as for once she had someone to look after her small grandson so she could take her not quite so small granddaughter out on the lead rein.
As she's not often that lucky (and has the kids quite a bit in the hols as she works in a school) plus her ageing TB has been lame all summer hols (absceses in foot), I was feeling a bit sorry for her, had a rapid think and had just read your post and clicked the link to their site, and asked the girls if they wanted to ride or would they like to visit the Horse Trust as it's only 30-40 minutes from us.
Well the girls looked at a few photos on the Horse Trust website and decided it'd be a good idea, so armed with a camera off we went. They had a great time stroking all the oldies and taking photos, and I had a good nose among their displays and learnt about all the valuable research work they usually sponsor into equine illnesses but are low on funding for the next year, aside from their retirement livery.
If anyone else wants to go visit it's not far from the M40 just north of J4 High Wycombe towards Princes Risborough, and they're open 2-4 daily and take your money for a donation to visit, and to buy some yummy local ice cream.
