Hi, when i know when you take your horse to get measured you have to have there shoes taken off, but do there feet need triming or is just having the shoes off ok.

Many thanks in advance

my bf used to jump ponies bsja now out of it im sure he used to have them taken off but not trimmed and put back on week or few days after

When I had my daughters pony measured I coincided it with my regular shoeing. Farrier took shoes off and trimmed pony up, i took him off to be measured whilst farrier shod the rest of my lot, got pony measured went home and had the shoes put on

a 148cm pony can meaure 151cm with shoes at a show as it would be classed as being at competition fitness, if you then take the pony to be measured it must without shoes then measure 148cm

depends on how questionable the height of the pony is? but to be on safe side remove shoes and trim back and take for measuring! depends if it is a little 14.2 or a whopper!!!
