My daughter wants to look into working with horses when she leaves school next year.
Has anyone got ideas on what we really need in the horse industry that we are short of.

Devon cream tea for replying

What subjects does she prefer more? ie Science or Arts.

Does she like to teach or is she better taking in information?

Would she like to work in a team or on her own and independent?

All questions you should ask, my daughter wants to work with horses too. She's studying atm, and likes science but also really is interested in the care of the horse, even more so than the riding, although she does that too.

Think the industry needs more qualified specialists tbh. Areas she could look at are maybe, feeding, laminitis, sweet itch control etc.

Then there are the obvious, teaching, sports coaching etc.

What about stud work, equine breeding, taking samples etc. Interesting work and get to pat ponies!!! Or AI (Artifical Inseminator)no, don't laugh, it's quite specialised and new technology comes along all the time!

Then there's physio, chiropractor, dentist, equine nurse, rehab clinics etc.

Sorry, the list is really endless, but you have to think outside the box so to speak!!
