I have just been sent photos off a Jockey's facebook page where he is bragging about punching a fox to death, including a photo of him holding the dead fox. Now I am not a bunny hugger who thinks foxes shouldn't be killed ect ect but I do feel that it should be done humanely not punched to death. What I do find sickening is the comments for the jockey and his friends who find all this rather amusing. Am I wrong in thinking that is not the sort of behaviour someone in his position should be displaying publicly (and before anyone says its his private fb page he has over 700 friends and he was on my page until I had a massive clear out recently and I don't know him personally) And really just wrong all together.

Unnecessary crueltly is not acceptable particularly from people in public eye who should know better.

I agree report and draw attention of his profession to this, not I am sure how they want to be viewed.

Sorry for ranty post :-(

Call the RSPCA and you can then forward photo's. I know they get mixed press but I had to call them recently regarding an issue and the lady on the phone was very professional, took all the details and the officer followed it up with a call to me the following day with an update. Copy and paste the photos tonight to somewhere safe in case he removes them and call them in the morning. Good luck x

Op go to the rspca website. Therevis a tab at the top called My RSpca. Register and then send them an enquiry via My Rspca. You can send photo attachments in the enquiry.

Not naming or shaming just yet, as I don't want to jeopardise anything. But he is well enough known shall we say not your Frankie Dettori or AP Mccoy but well enough known.

Be interesting to know what his boss thinks about it.... how stupid can you get - partly for doing it (where stupid isnt quite the word I really mean) and even more for putting it up. No matter what your stance on foxes in general, this sort of thing is never never never cool....

Op if you can, please make photo shots/save the screen image of the admissions/comments made and call the RSPCA

Are you 100% sure its true? If yes, then report him.
But I get the feeling it would be quite hard to punch a fox to death! Perhaps he shot it but thought it would be "funny" to say he'd done it with his bare hands? Like the daft Midnight Beast song that goes along the lines of "I kicked the bear in the balls/I punched the shark in the face"? Just a thought before he's hung drawn and quartered... he might be joking!

Good point.

Would a posting amount to a confession and is a confession any good without a caution first?

Trial by Internet isn't really a very good idea either. Some people get litigious.

I've handled a few foxes, whilst still alive, and believe me, holding a struggling animal, with one hand, while killing it with blows form a fist, is a ridiculous claim on the part of the jockey. I would also point out that foxes aren't protected, and even if he was adept enough to do as has been claimed, I'm not altogether sure that he's broken any law.

Alec.

This was my thought Alec, it's hard enough to pin down a small domesticated cat whilst trying to shove a tablet down it's throat!
I have to say I laughed at the title and thought I was opening a joke thread. I'm finding it very hard to believe it's possible!

The laws if has broken relate to animal cruelty, rather than killing per se. I agree it would be difficult to do with one person, but wouldn't be surprised if a second or third person was involved. If you ask me, even if he's faked it, he's an ass. Jokes about cruelty aren't that far from carrying out the act.

If it is a joke, it's a pretty sick one imo. :(

There are some cruel morons out there.

Agree with you, either way joke or real it is not the way anyone should behave, and to post for all to see and people reply is condoning cruelty, which should not be acceptable to anyone who cares about animals whether domesticated or wild.

Exactly and the problem is that even if it is fake it gives the other sickos the idea to do it for real

Spot on.

I do wonder if there is a little poetic licence going on. Having seen the mess foxes have made of my ex husbands hands, whilst he was in hunt service, I find it very hard to believe that someone, jockey or not, has done such a thing. A lot of experience is needed to handle foxes, mink and anything else the professionals may need to handle in the course of their work. I sincerely hope this is a sick and un-needed joke.

Have to say I heard about this yesterday (didnt see it - am not friends with him on FB) and while the logistics of being able to do it had crossed my mid, the possibility of it being an April Fool didnt appear (chiefly cos it was the 6th when I found out about it!)

I kind of hope its a AF - though thats a flipping weird sense of humour if it is..
