Does any one know of any comfortable non jodhpur lower body garments I could use when riding (or attempting to) as, well, Chicken legs and Jodhpurs really don't go together.

The cure is long riding boots or boots and 1/2 chaps

An alternative would be to search Ebay or your local tack shop for a pair of 1960's / 70's hunting breeches, which have baggy thighs...Biggles style.

Dark coloured Georg Schumacher or Kentucky breeches with pleats and pockets. Mark Todd does nice men's ones too. Nothing tight or full of lycra. Worn with smart half chaps, this is a good look for men I think.

Just make sure you always wear long boots or chaps and never just joddy boots like "spagetti legs" on my yard.

Mark Todd now do a pair of riding trousers, old dairy saddlery sell them and they are similar in appearance to chinos.

Definitely nothing too tight in the jod department.

I think very few people actually look good in jodhpurs - I know I sure as hell don't!

really good value are the Derby houde own brand mens breeches , just bought my OH some and they look really good . Fabric is great , washes well and they come in at £40.
they have 'clariono' straping on the knees too.

Ok I'm with on that one, men + jods can = disaster...quick call the horsey fashion police please!

I'd got for a nice chunky pair, (not a thin tight lycra pair that's going to hug your manly bits!)

, go for a dark colour, a fit that's like slim fit jean, so there's a bit of crease/give in em, teamed up with some masculine looking brown chaps and chunky fashionable joddy boots, there's lots of nice mens riding wear out there, its just find it and putting it all together.

Alot of western riders wear jeans that do not have an inner seam. That said, I ride western in my ordinary jeans (not best posh ones tho

) which have inner seams and I don't have a problem

. Maybe I'm just plain awkward.....

ditto the comments about men and jods, not a nice look. the mark todd breeches are quite nice.
Don't buy navy blue, don't know why, men in blue jods are creepy.
Always wear long boots or half chaps.
I quite like men in the mountain horse hi riders. Must be the leather ones.
When you are rigged out, post some pics lol.
