Which is best and why?
Only ever worn jodhs before, but quite like the look of a pair of breeches so thinking about getting them.
Also,what is a size 18 UK for jods/breeches?
Was a size 16 last time I bought some

oh Breeches EVERYTIME!! You don't have big bulges by your ankles you can usually adjust how tight they fit with the velcro fastening. Easier to get on and off too. Does matter if they are wrong length either

I love breeches always wear them i find them so much more comfy(although that could be because im a shory ar*e so don't have to roll them up

)and i think an 18 is a 34???not certain though

Breeches with me too. I normally have to try on a few different sizes to find the right ones though (don't know why), which is more hassle than normal clothes.

Ahh thats one of the things that seems nice about them.
I have a 34 inch inside leg so am limited in choice of Jodhs and HATE all the padding at the ankle.
Breeches seem so much more streamlined!

Also,bugger for the size issues

I really wouldnt care what the size lable says if I could just go in a shop a XX size was the same as XX in every other!

breeches all the way! I think most Jods are made for those who are 6ft plus! How many adult riders do you know who just ride in jod boots with jod clips?!? I'm guessing not many. breeches with long socks, mean no bulge round the ankle, you can wear jod boots and chaps or long boots, and your feet are kept toasty warm in the winter!

I only own breeches. Hate jods with a passion lol!

I find breeches much more flattering and a better fit. They also seem to have a bit more "quality" about them for some reason.

Also I am 5' so the length is good for me.

The sizes vary a lot between makes. Mark Todd are teeny, Mountain horse on the large side.

Don't know about your size but I would be a 24" in Mountain Horse or Caldene and a 26" in Mark Todd or Toggi. I am an easy size 10, so hope that helps.

I'm 5'2" and has to be breeches seeing as I'm as short as Ronnie Corbett. Otherwise I spend my life cutting off about 6-8" of every pair of jodphurs I buy. I can recommend Hac Tac denim jodphurs though as they are the only ones I don't have to shorten/fold up, etc. Their breeches are lovely too.

Like everyone else I much prefer breeches, will only wear breeches for smart use... I do have jods for everyday use but don't like them as much, and being 5ft3 breeches come down to my ankles, jods come halfway down my foot!

Breeches for me! I love my corduroy Pikeur ones.

I can't stand the bulkiness (sp?) around the ankle that you get from jods.
