I prefer to ride in Jodphurs but the pain inflicted by the stirrup leathers chafing my leg is horrendous. I can't get chaps to fit me.

Jodphur manufacturers could you extend the knee pads down to the ankle? Would make riding so much more comfortable.

PLEASE

Some brands are already like this, although I'm darned if I can think of any at the moment! Why can you not get chaps to fit? If you have very broad calves, try fuller fillies or 16 plus rider for many styles. I'm afraid I can't help if you have very slender calves apart from I think aria chaps are very slim.

Shires chaps in xl or xxl, they widen eventually, a week or so of struggles and then they are ok. I also have a pair of shires xxxl wide long boots. They are perfect and I have massive calves.

Fuller fillies also have wider chaps, and brown country boots. There are loads of options.

The Fuller Fillies boots are no good if your calves are over 20 inches.

And why do some jodhpur manufacturers put not even a single pocket in them (hello Musto!). Surely everybody who rides out needs to take at least a mobile phone and surely a key.

Get made to measure ones...not hugely expensive compared to good quality off the rack. In the meantime use exercise bandages as chaps!!! And full seat breeches are not exactly uncommon...oodles of then to choose from

Agreed!
And the ones that do have pockets rarely are big enough to fit my iphone in.
Derby house arten't big enough, caldene are good though :)

lol - yes i agree ester!
Things were much simpler when i had my trusty Nokia!
Now i have to either make sure i have a jacket or fleece with a pocket or just try and ram my smart phone into my jod pocket - half close the zip and hope it doesn't pop out during a canter or violent spook!

GET SOME HACKED OFF JODDIES!!! they are immense, some of mine have lasted for years! THey have no patches as such, but the insides of the jods stretch right down to the ankle!!! The only thing i would point out that the stirrups on the bottom of the jods can get a wee bit itchy... though long thick proper riding socks solve this problem.. worst come to worst they are detachable.. :) hope this helps...
