im very confused its been a good few years since i was last riding, anyway i was looking at some clothing jods and breeches, but the sizes just confuse..i.e. robsinson sized are 24'' to 38'' the odd 40'' but as i thought (googled it) size 14 is 42'' or have i got this wrong? i knew i put on some weight but the av size in uk is 18.. yet i cant even buy a 14 (42'')?

30 or 32 should do you, but just to make things interesting, each make sizes differently too! I'd try and get down to a local saddlery shop and see what brands suit your shape and what size you come up. It is such a pain! At least when you know a couple of brands you like and what size you are in each then you can have a hunt about on line.

averages from my experiences are 36 being a 16 to 18 and 34 being a 16. a 14 is usualy a 32

30 is 12
28 is 10
26 is 8
24 is 6

obviously its like anything else in cloths 32 to 36 is a 16 and 30 to 34 is 14 so try some on xxx

When I was trying on breeches at Derby House I found the "same" size could be anything from unable to get above my knees to room for 2, and that was 1 brand, so I would say you definitely need to try on.

thank you all :D, i was starting to think i was either really stupid or just massive. I will take your advise and go to a local tack shop.

Hi, Just to let you know that a 42 is the right size for a size 14, but this size is usually used in european jodhpurs, and a 32 is the size in england/ireland. Dublin brand Jodhpurs are the only ones I have found to be overgenerous in sizing. Hope this helps.:)
