I'm in need of some new jods. I'm fed up with riding in jeans and a little sensitive to say the least about going into my local tack shop to buy jods. Is there anywhere online that you would recommend with out spending a fortune but still look good? In jean size I'm a 20 - 24 depending on cut and material :(

I'm trying to shift the excess weight but it just won't go so while I'm posting if you've any exercise / diet tips I'd be greatful

Caveletti do a good range and provide excellent service, worth having a look and give them a ring, they are always helpful.

Second Vote here for Caveletti Clothing. The Annabell Breeches go up to a size 40, come in great colours and arrive in a beautiful package. The ladies there are also very very helpful. If you tell them your dress size they will tell you exactly the size you need in all of their ranges.

I Found Fuller Fillies Jodh's a very odd fit, not great quality and the customer service is terrible.

I go for derby house although the fit is varied between the various styles which annoys me. the suede seats just don't sit properly and I'm forever tugging at them so the crotch isn't down at my knees - oh the joys of having big thighs :p

good luck with losing weight. according to my pt it's 70% diet and 30% exercise - this, unfortunately, seems to be true as I've been killing myself in the gym and not lost any physical weight :(
pass the lettuce leaves :p

Gallop brand jodhpurs. They fit and wear really well and are a reasonable price. Got mine from Trotters Equestrian.

Break a finger, have 2 ops, get given tramadol!! turns out a surprising side effect of tramadol is appetite suppression so I've lost 4lbs this week - woohoo (I'm doing ww so weighing self anyway), I wouldn't recommend the pain to go with it though. Anyway, I'm off to buy me some anabelle's for when I'm allowed back on a horse :D

lol think I'll stick to trying to stay in one piece. very happy because I managed to finish my run last night with the treadmill on a 3% incline and I still managed to do sprints afterwards - not much for fit ppl but great for a big lump like me :p
ill be into my kingslands in no time ;) shame their size guides are totally rubbish

Sorry I have to comment as I had a really shoddy experience with them.

I had (what turned out to be the owner of the Company) ranting at me that they never make mistakes and so my order being lost must be my fault, turns out it wasn't by the way sigh!

Goods eventually arrived screwed up in a plastic bag covered with gaffa tape (impressive!).

Jodh's were really odd shape enormous round the waist, tight in the crotch and upper thigh and generally not the greatest quality. I have 3 pairs Black, Grape and brown all unused in my drawer. If anyone wants them PM me, I will bring over and post when I am in the UK at the beginning of April. They are supposedly to fit a size 18 although you would need to have an enormous waist, be very short bodied and have thighs like Kate Moss to fit them:-)

Would never ever use again or recommend!

On the other hand Caveletti clothing, I called discussed fit and sizing was recommended to go a size lower as they are generous cut, arrived within a week (i am abroad so this is good) parcel arrived beautifully wrapped with each item wrapped in a layer of tissue paper oh and a free gift of a pair of gloves to match my new Jodhs which fitted like a glove and were of a really fantastic quality.

Would recommend Jane and her Team I now buy all my equestrian clothing from them and have many Dutch friends who now do the same.

Yay for you!!! :D I hate running with a passion because i'm SO unfit, but I persevere because I know it'll get easier and it's actually quite relaxing and I'm so chuffed when I've done it!! You'll be in them in no time xx

I've had a lot of success with this www.weightlossresources.co.uk - lost about a stone and half. Costs about £11 a month (cheaper than Weight Watchers). It's just basic calorie counting and recording exercise. It's amazing (and a little frightening) how many calories are in things when you have to write it all down and to discover that a portion of pasta isn't half a packet;). Yes it can be a pain to weigh and measure everything, but it builds up a data base for you so does get easier and it certainly focuses the mind!

For me the great thing is if you have a biscuit (or 3) it's OK you just adjust what you'll have for your next meal to compensate or do a little extra exercise. It doesn't really feel like a diet. They have a 24 hour free registration without having to join up and if you do join, you can cancel at any time.

Good luck!

PS to answer your original question, I found Harry Hall Atlanta jodhs quite stretchy and very comfortable!

Couldn't see any jods on there Kevin - looked like a chatpage.

Re losing weight - I can really recommend the new weight watchers. I've lost 16lbs in 9 weeks so far, and have eaten really well. Its not that expensive, and you can pop into meetings if you want, or do it online, which has a great forum which is a great help if you're struggling or need help finding points for things. You can eat everything, its just training you towards the more filling and healthy things! I even went out for a big fat indian meal this week and still lost weight!

Thanks for posting this thread re jods. I wear Robbinsons usually, but the tips have been good. Am hoping I won't need the big jods much longer at this rate!

Brilliant! I'm not exactly Kate Moss in the thighs but compared to my tummy my thighs are little. I usually describe myself as rugby ball shaped:D These sound like they might be just the thing!

I found exactly the opposite. I followed the diet religiously and put on two pounds in each of the first two weeks. I was absolutely furious. I've since found that if you count the ProPoints and, in my case, don't eat anything with wheat in, anything with sugar in, any fruit or many veg, or any starchy food the weight drops off nicely at around 3 pounds per week. If I follow their recommended menu plan I put on weight:( So I just don't have to tell them I'm effectively doing limited Atkins.

I agree on the new WW!! I've tried various incarnations of it and this is by far the best :D I've lost 8lbs in 4 weeks (another 4lb this week cos of the tramadol so it'll all go back on :o ) it's dead easy to follow too, I've been eating caramels and crunchies and allsorts and not once felt deprived x

Ah that's pants, it does seem to be split down the middle in my group tbh, one half think it's ace and the other half who hate it are still following the old one - it's working for me and i eat all of my daily points, all of my exercise points and all of my weeklies every week without fail x

For everyday jodphurs that dont cost a fortune and that seem to last I liked the robinsons I think it was just there basic requisite range. Obviously I love fuller fillies, ESP as our local tack shop stocks there range.

I,ve signed myself up to do the London 10k run in july for world horse welfare. I,ve never tun anywhere in my life... So I,m doing the c25k training program.

I,ve noticed as I,ve got older I don't lose the pounds so easily but the inches definitely seem to be going down :)

I have the two tone shires jods - I'm normally an 18 (ish) in jeans and have a 34 in these. I also have a pair of mountain horse breeches which are a 36 and actually a bit big for me...

I compete in Caldene belgrade breeches (a 34) and they are really comfy!

Have only just been able o get online today to see the replies to this. There's some really helpful posts so thanks very much guys :)

Would strongly recommend going online to 16plus rider. Great range of riding clothes inclduding show jackets, wider fit boots etc. really helpful and great service. I was delighted with my order.
