"Joey" one month one!!!

Well, after having teeth done, and being on good grass, joey's ass has filled out/up and is making real progress. His back has yet to follow, but hopefully, it will do in time. oh, and he didnt like getting his mane pulled, but i had figured that, from the lenght of his mane when we bought him!!!
So.... this is Joey, one month on!!!!!!

He's looking OK but his back will always be dipped now. My 17 yo is just the same and he's not had anything like a hard life. Go easy with the weight on it, and keep an eye out for soreness.

Shauna had a lesson on Joey today, and he was a bit more lively, as he had been off after getting his teeth done and had only been ridden a few times. She had a great lesson, was practicing the gallop/x-country canter position, up out of the saddle in canter in the arena. For the last part of the lesson, they went down the fields to put it in to practice, and the little minx was really asking him to open up in fast canter(maybe a little gallop). She's brave, I'll give her that, I could hardly watch, she definitely doesnt take after me.

A while after Popeye died, Shauna asked for a new pony. (She said, nobody will ever replace Popeye, mam, but i want a new pony). So pony hunting began, after a load of crappy ponies being offered( I put an ad on donedeal, looking for a pony), we found Joey. I took him on trial, and a few of my horsey friends thought he was older than 17, and told me under no circumstances to pay €1000, so I offered much less, and long story short, bought him for a lot less. His teeth were terrible, so sharp they were taking chunks out of his cheeks. Had teeth done, and he is now improved so much. I think we are on to a winner!!! Off to get him his rugs for the winter this week.

Sometimes it really is impossible to tell.

My 26 year old looks better than some 16 year olds I've seen (My vet once asked who the new youngster was lol)
